Everyone, let me introduce you to the piece that destroyed my wrist for a few months~ and I didn’t even finish it!
Never again, pixel. Never again.
Posting this gets it off my desk and my chest so to speak, since I was forced to forsake it the moment I created it because of my wrist. Also it won’t nag me anymore when I work on my original stuff, which is the direction I wanna go for a while.
-Panel 1 is a nod to S3&K, hope you recognize it
-That “SPEED!” thought caption is so horrid, please ignore, I was planning on using a more dramatic font/size/etc but never got to it.
"Sonic" and all other trademarks and trade names are properties of .

Whoah, I really love the colors you use! Your decisions when choosing colors are really clever and correct, your 3D, all the effects... Everything is fantastic! I really love your work and your style is for sure one of my faves

Actually I don't remember myself what possessed me to make it so colorfully explosive, or how I did it... lol I think it was mostly stream of consciousness color doodling, not planned at all.

Oh shoot, I never saw this comment!
I intended it to be a comic, but doing this first page in pixel killed my hand, and after I recovered I wasn't interested in making it anymore

I find it amazingly hard to draw Sonic the way I like it at all. I always get the proportions wrong, the head is too big or the body is too small. I have no idea how to position the legs and the arms.
Argh. One day I will be able to draw Sonic, one day.

Don't worry there, you're in good company. If it wasn't for being able to scale and shift proportions via photoshop, my renditions of Sonic would be atrocious I always draw the body and limbs too long, and the head size gives me so much trouble. It always seems to take me like 20 limb position experiments to get a pose looking even remotely natural. Haha, the Sonic style is difficult for me to say the least
Something that did help me though, is I took a screenshot of Sonic from the CD opening just standing normally (since that's the style I was interested in learning). Then I used photoshop to map out the proportions with simple shapes on a new layer (circles for the head and body, lines to indicate where limbs begin and end). It really helped me break it down!

Thanks! I was definitely going for the sort of surrealistic feel found in the Genesis games. They certainly made incredible use of color!

Rontu, this is... gorgeous
It's amazing how beautiful you make pixel art look
The smoke or-how-you-would-call-that-cloud in the last panel is so well done, I'm actually jealous at how 3D looking it is, in it's own way.
You. have. to. make. MORE! I want more pictures like this I'm sure you can make amazing pictures like this without pixels too!
On other note, why the HECK haven't I already watched you? You're amazing!

D-duuuudddeeee! I-I dont even know what to say, other than that this is seriously super duper amaazziinnggggg
Personally this is one of my favorite Sonic pieces from you, not only cuz its in outer space, but of how much movement is created in on the canvas In the first panel it is very simplistic and barren, which is very spacey XD, and in the second panel, my eye travels all around the canvas, with all of the bright colors that seem to splatter and twirl all around I also find myself trying to examine the way the details were painted (cuz I so wish I could learn how to paint detail like that )
But in my opinion, my favorite of them all is the third panel The dramatic lighting on Sonic is just so intense, and the way you painted the dust cloud in the bottom left corner is just so mesmerizing, it looks so solid, and uses such a variety of colors that I honestly can't tell how you found D: Although its a too bad that you wont be doing any more of these, its sooo cool that you shared the first page with us

Thank you so much sapphi especially for addressing what you like in each panel. I was a little unsure about posting this cuz I was afraid for a barrage of "MAKE MOREZ!!!1!" but I'm glad I did now.
I should mention that I almost never pick the colors you see in my work. I always end up picking horrible colors lol, but "glaze" over them to change the hue using the fade brush tool. So with the smoke, to get those colors, I started with lavenders and then glazed over areas with bright lime greens and used the fade brush tool to change the intensity It's an awesome trick that I can't get enough of!
