Trying to come up with not so literal titles...It took me so long to get these colors, so long.
Well hopefully here's some nostalgia for you.
And a huge dose of ridiculously bright, happy colors. I wanted to elaborate on this earlier sketch [link] Does anyone else like Emerald Hill's 2P racing mode music more than the original?

This is looking fantastic! The bright colours create such an impact, and the scene is very true to the original look and feel of the zone 
Actually, now I think about it the problem with the flowers in the foreground isn't so much that they look sloppy because when I study them, they look just fine. So I had to try and figure out what was bothering me, and here it is... It's that that they look consistant with the background... which isn't exactly a problem, but if you made the outlines and details sharper in this area (making the flowers look more detailed and sharply defined than the background details, I mean) you could emulate a depth of field or immitate the way that the human eye sees things in sharper detail when close up, therefore adding more depth to an already fine piece of work.

You make a really good point... The foreground tree, grass, and path all have far more detail and are more crisp in comparison to those flowers. I hardly thought to do much with them since they're such simple shapes!
Even though I want this style to emulate a sort of HD look where everything is in focus, bright and crisp, there are other things I can do to simulate depth of field. I've only been experimenting with this style for a month, so it's hard for me to see what can be improved on, and that makes me glad you've come along and pointed out a few things even if they seem minor. It's good to catch these issues early in the game!
Lastly of course, I'm happy this seems true to the look and feel of the zone

I can't really say I'm feeling nostalgia, because I haven't had a chance to play the first 4 Sonic games, but I hope I'll be able to play them someday
