Description Dubiously dubbed "Trubble Bubble" by the GI Joes, the COBRA Flight Pod is primarily a garrison patrol craft - sort of like an armed, flying golf cart.  They are favored by staff personnel at COBRA bases, especially the Tele-Vipers (S-6 types).

For this re-imagined iteration, I've taken cues from small helicopters by designing the "bubble" to provide forward protection from the elements.  For most of the gun, which in the toy's blueprints is listed as a "1XM-97 mini-cannon," I referenced a real-life Type 97 anti-tank cannon.

3DSMax 2010, Photoshop CS6 for textures and again for treatment.

G. I. Joe and Cobra are property of Hasbro.

I loved a lot vehicles in gi joe franchise. Cobra vehicles often my favorite though I did wish they had more variety. I remember they had a tank but I think was on wheels and had no turrent. Can't remember as been long time, I would love if they did reboot of series again. Love to see more modern/sci-fi technology, weapons, and vehicles. ^^

Good reply!

I think there needs to be a GI Joe team with new members if they are going to do a modern version - not a reboot though. I think a reboot would need to be in the past, with all the original members and more life-like equipment, or at least a kind of compromise like the vehicles I have made.

So you would want a game that takes place in the 80's but a but more hi-tech looking?

Holy cow, thanks Dusty!! That means quite a lot coming from you!! I really do try and put the extra effort in, including researching real life military hardware and experimental mobility, to bring my versions of these vehicles and equipment to life.

Thanks again!!!!!

Thanks! A little bit better than the 80's version, I hope. Well, that's what I'm aiming for - improvements.

there is that too. going full 3-d added some reality that the cartoon never did. and I love things with heavy detail.

This looks awesome. Stumbled on this while looking for reference pics to model my own trubble bubble. Going for a more classic look for mine, but i gotta say, this looks wicked. If Flight Pods were real and i had a choice between the classic and your version for my get away vehicle, i'd pick this one

Thanks man! That's just about the exact kind of impact I strive to achieve with all my Joe & Cobra vehicles. Be sure to check them out.

I like the Joes' nickname for Cobra's flight pods.

Yeah, and misspelled on purpose.  Weird GI Joes.

I still think they are one of the most brilliant vehicles of the toyline. Flying golf carts indeed...

I'm glad you like it!     It's good to see someone appreciating my descriptive style.  I'm always curious how people will respond to the updated, realistic appearance I try to achieve with my Joe/Cobra vehicles, and feedback is very welcome.

Thanks for the comments, and feel free to comment on any of my other works! (they may not all be gems, lol)
