I REALLY like this one. However I think the overall lack of detail in the background takes away from the amazing look of the tank. If more time was spent on the background this would be a truly fantastic piece.

A note about the texturing:
You should rotate some of the UV mappings so that the water marks on the marble/concrete texture you used on the tank all run vertically.
Also, in case you missed it, the base of the satellite dish sticks out from the tank.

Hope that's some decent food for thought.

Wow! Awesome! I like it alot! The only thing I would have changed with this one is the window. The window just doesnt look done or something....other than that, this definatly deserved the DD. Great job!!!

Im a bit emberresed so please excuse me!

Its nearly only Modeled with basic Objekts like Sphere and Cylinders!
Excuse me, but it looks like a i-am-15-and-just-downloaded-a-ripped-max -version-and-it-took-me-hard-2-hours-to- make-for-this-Pic! The Texture dont look good.. it doesnt neraly look like metal or anything a tank would be made of... no Bump map.. nothing! And sure.. a Wall breakes of so clear.. especialy when the depth wall is 0.5 meters. And the lightning is totlay failed...

Everyone her is talking about skills.. you dont need much skills for that! I totaly disagree with most her!

Shame over my head...

nice idea but far from perfect. i am not so into 3d (make textures) but the tank is badly textured, looks like a rusty texture is put about the whole tankwithout adding any detail.

Overall, it kicks ass, but the window REALLY annoys me in it's stand-out-y-ness

fix the window Xebra, and you become God

BTW, since I'm soon to be assimilated by iCE does this mean YOU will upload any entries I have or does that honor remain mine?

please drop me a note

god that tank thing is cool though...

If some of the peeps here would be makin 3d models for games, then I would have to get a new computer due to to much details
But as the others have already said, the background isn't that detailed...
But if i'm correct that wasn't what you were aiming at? heh oh well, Great work Xebra

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn. That's NICE.

My only beefs with it --and they're tiny, IMO -- have both already been mentioned, but for the sake of adding my voice to the masses I'll agree...

The blasted out section of the wall bugs me a little because it's too rounded for a brick wall. It should be chunkier; more blown-to-pieces than sliced looking.

In the same vein, the bricks that are on the ground should be a little broken... I wouldn't expect them to come out clean after being blasted.

Thirdly, the window could use a little tightening up... make it a little more 3-D and perhaps make the wood look kinda broken and abused...

The tank is just perfect, though -- the most perfect render of a tank I think I've EVER seen.

Stunning work!

I always felt that Feng's drawings had enough depth to them. But bringing his tank to LIFE in this 3D render was very well done. Personally, I don't think it needed the backdrop and such. But that's only my 2cents.

the tank is killer but the background could do with a lot more work. the crack in the wall is dodgy, the bricks wouldn't have fallen out whole and made a jagged shape like that

the window sill, the bits of wood in the window...

but the tank man, the tank!
it's very good.

necron [2001-05-09 10:37:46 +0000 UTC]

Ahh.. perfect. The gloomy street filled with rage and destruction. The primal instincts of mankind acting against each other.

A great job, only thing i dont like about it is the wall behind the tank. It looks to plain and "undamaged" to be in a war. But who cares, the tank rocks.

Great work

I like it too. The first thing I noticed was the distressed wall lacks realism because of the hard edge of the cut-away portion...I think someone else mentioned that as well. I also think the glass in the window could use a second visit to the materials shop too.

It's a great scene no doubt. 2 niggles I can see are 1. the section of 'blown away' wall is curved and doesn't fit with the fallen bricks on the ground below.

2. The gun flash would appear more dramatic if it affected the immediate surrounding area, bricks, road, front of the tank. That's assuming the main light sources aren't meant to be the flash due to 2 shadows being visible. If the flash is creating the ambient light then it needs to be addressed.

I love it though -- fantastic work.
