No problem. I think that could work as long as the circle part is strong enough/thick enough to support the rest of the weight of the wing. Good luck!

Hmm...
I'm thinking about making these for a birthday gift for a friend. ^^ Thank you for this tutorial
A few questions though:
1. Where do you attach the wings? I don't want to take them apart because I want these to be functional. I looks like you took off the earpads of the headphones, but I'm pretty sure that's not it...
2. Did you somehow varnish the white pattern on the outside of the headset?

1. I did take off the earpads because the headphones that I was using wasn't working.
2. I used white craft glue

hmm...
what if I don't want to remove the earpads? Would it still be possible to attach the wings?
And thank you for answering my other question!

No problem.

I am so tempted to go and buy a new pair of headphones just so I could do this.
Nice tutorial though. The cellopane idea is genius!

how did u get the inner design of the wings to be so smooth after u cut it ;___; im having trouble with that

rorin25cc In reply to CoelumStellatum [2012-03-15 04:57:19 +0000 UTC]
I cut smooth as possible when I cut it >< um maybe practice with a piece of foam and then cut the actual foam wings out? that might help. What kind of material are you using for the wings?

I just used regular craft foam O: I don't know if it's my x-acto knife or my skills but it came out really choppy ;___;

I used soft foam. Ones that feels like a sponge. Are you using hard foam?

Hey, can I post a link to this on my website? It's going to be a list of Vocaloid tutorials, but it still needs content.
Here's a link to the website (it's just Wordpress... Whatever): [link]
I'll just put a link to this page, so I won't be copying anything over, really.
Thanks in advance! If you don't want me to add it, that's okay too.
Also I'm copy-n-pasting this message

I don't have anything on it yet. xD It looks like something someone made and then forgot about.

Okay so in the first part where you say to 'paint' after applying mod podge .-. what paint do you mean? xD

Also what would be better for the earphones instead of insulation; clay or Styrofoam from like a yoga mat.

I think it would be styrofoam. I'm not so sure what you are referring to in the first comment. =S

Um in the second step when it says that you put the mod podge on then paint >.<
So what do you do after you put the podge on?

rorin25cc In reply to ototobo [2011-08-01 01:19:02 +0000 UTC]
I don't think I mentioned podge in the tutorial. Are you referring to the black acrylic paint?
