what paper did you use? i find that when using brush to blend pastel it really fails... they are a bit hard to use cos they are very chalky and hard to do details, personally i find. though they make beautiful matte blending.

I have used the "1557" paper from "Canson" here. The technique takes a little practice, I prefer smooth paper for it. I don't do details with pastels, I use a thin brush with watercolors or colored pencils.
