In terms of criticism, the defense "Then you do it!" is one I have mixed feelings about. On the one hand, it can be used to try to invoke empathy out of the critic, trying to make them consider how much time and effort they put into their craft, as well as restraints and limitations they had (e.g. budget, time, etc...) to show that they did the best they could within those parameters. On the other hand, it can also be used as a way of acting like criticism is irrelevant unless it's made by people whose life experiences and portfolios are similar to the creator. I've never written a movie, but I can still tell when a movie is awful. I suppose it comes down to context. It's a context-sensitive phrase.
Filibuster done, I thought it would be funny for Ophelia to use this defense against Brian. He's always complaining about her cooking, to the point where I'm not even going to gather up drawings to use for evidence, as there's too many examples. And since she's not exactly the calmest princess, she's just angrily handing over the reins to Brian to see if he'll learn that cooking is harder than it looks. Only problem is Brian is too haughty to help , feeling that cooking is beneath him as a prince.
