This year, I'd like to make more comic strips. While people like my one-panel comics, I feel like they occupy an awkward limbo between illustration and comic strip. It makes it hard to know where to submit them to groups. Comic strips allow me to know for certain that they are comics.
For my first comic strip of 2021, I wanted to draw a character whom I've drawn a few comic strips of (though I've only shown off one ): Mono the Octopus. He's a character by SweetScout whom I like very much due to his adorable design. I wanted to draw something to do with ink. He's an octopus, albeit anthropomorphic, so he's probably got some kind of ink sac. I thought it would be funny if he sneezed out ink. And with him being so human, he's probably got a handkerchief. He's not gonna just sneeze into the air (or water in this case) like a caveman. I also thought it would be funny if he bottled and sold his ink, so I combined that idea with the previous one. After he sneezes, he wrings out his handkerchief and fills up ink bottles.
