Description And ain't she pwetty

**MAJOR FRIGGIN SPOILERS FOR GUARDIANS OF CHILDHOOD/RISE OF THE GUARDIANS AFTER THIS POINT** If your reading THE BOOKS might not want to read beyond this.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

OKAY! So those of you who read the books so far (or are just curious little things xD) This is Pitch's daughter 8D NO THIS IS NOT ME FANGURLING FOR ONCE xD haha. She's an actual character in the book.

Before Pitch was a shapeshifting Nightmare King, he was a general and a hero And in one scene from his past he pulls out a locket and there's a picture of a girl inside.
But..... we don't know what happened to her yet.... AND IT'S KILLING ME! But Pitch obviously really misses her alot.... so what happened?! Did she die? Is she lost? Kidnapped? Was there a promise made that Pitch didn't keep? Did she runaway?! GAH!!! Idunnoandthenextbookcomesoutinoctober!!! **breathes heavily** D8

At least it'll be a nice birthday present to myself when the next books finally come out xD

I highly doubt they'll have her in the movie .... but she's there in the book And if they do have her in the movie or the sequel I'm gonna like...... love dreamworks forever and ever more so than I do now, haha.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay.... I'm done.....

Oh! Also for those curious:

First children's book in series - The Man in the Moon

Uhm, Pitch's locket is originally SILVER... but I'll excuse it because you've probably never read the books. But yeah, Pitch's locket with his daughter on it is silver, not gold.

I can't believe I haven't commented on this until now (and I'm usually good at commenting on stuff...what's wrong with me?)

Anyway, I like this a lot. The original in the book makes her look like an older teenager when, if the dialogue is anything to go by, she's probably quite young. You've captured that youth here. Well done.

I just wish we knew her name...

I just love Pitch so much. Unlike tons of the other Disney villains, he's actually see-through and three-dimensional. I love it!

Disney doesn't own Dreamworks; Spielberg does, I believe. You might be thinking of Lucasfilm, who Disney bought back in October.

Is it ??? I thought Dreamworks Animation was releasing its films with 20th Century Fox.

it used to be but Disney has been buying out other componys as to expand their reach in what they do... Like with ParaNorman... That was put out by Disney but under a diff name. The reason for this was because they were able to put out a movie with the first openly gay chara., which would of coarse cause a lot of angery parents and because they put it out under another name they are able to keep the name 'Disney' spot free...

Hehe, for some reason I'm envisioning Disney looking like that giant food monster from Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs buying all these mix of companies up πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

whats funny is that if you work for disney then you are forever stuck with them. Its either there way or the high way and if you work with them for a long time then try to break away the go out of their way to destroy you so that they don't have any compotition.

Yup! It's actually a series by William Joyce called, The Guardians of Childhood. There's two children's books and three chapter books out so far (there's gonna be more chapter books later next year). But the first of the books is called, Nicolas St. North and the Battle of the Nightmare King.

Your take on the girl and the locket is great. She really looks like Pitch and the "Love with all my Heart <3" in the back is a really nice touch.

How sad this is when one takes into consideration William Joyce's daughter Mary Katherine, I see that the movie Epic based off his favorite book The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bug's female lead is named after her. [link]

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

roseandthorn In reply to Elia16 [2012-08-03 22:35:06 +0000 UTC]

It really is! I knew his daughter had died even before reading the guardians series, but it never really hit me until I read about Pitch's daughter and the scene with the locket at the end. How much he must miss her and the hurt that's still there. It was heart breaking (And I actually wonder if Pitch's daughter will be named Mary or something to contrast Katherine.)

It's almost haunting rereading the books now, or at least to me It's like an ode to his daughter <: (

I noticed when reading his picture books that they would mention Jack, Mary Katherine, and Elizabeth as his family but later ones wouldn't mention her, I was wondering about her absence, thought she got disowned or something. Well both his kids are in the series in a way, Katherine and Jack. What do you think about Epic though and the name of it's female protagonist?

I just bought the book and read it, I knew it that Pitch will have a beautiful daughter! I also highly doubt that she'll appear in the movie, but I still hope she'll be in the sequel though, then we might see Jack Frost and Pitch's daughter (they seem to be the same age) having some sweet romance together~~~~ >v<

And I love your art style as well <3
