Over on Twitter TailsChannel & @IDWSonicNews are hosting an Art Celebration called "31 Days of Sonic" where you're provided a word prompt for each day and just draw whatever comes to mind. I've never participated in one of these before, so, thought I'd be fun to give it a try!

While I will be pulling from the main Sonic franchise to draw some of these prompts (like above), I'm planning to mainly draw from my Nexus series because I - just... really need an excuse to draw random art from the many subjects, scenarios, and story arcs that take place across the span of Nexus. I don't think anyone will be bothered by this; if so, there're a thousand other artists participating in this Art Celebration. Go check out their work!

Okay, so the "look-a-like" factor for this picture is the fact that Surge the Tenrec was created as the combination of both Scourge and Ashura. NO - seriously, she's both of them.
Allow me to explain.

Everyone should know by now that Scourge is an evil version of Sonic from a negative universe/zone and he's a real devious, irreverent, sassy son of a witch. (also he's from the Archie series, which doesn't deserve the entirety of the flack it gets.)
As for Ashura... He's a lot like Nazo in the fact that he was created from official media. He's essentially a glitch-hog that can be accessed in Sonic 2 (video game); he's known for being all green except for his face and some of his quills.

So, I repeat, Surge is basically the reincarnation of Scourge in mind and spirit, but was given the basic markings of Ashura, that good ol' full on black face! But of course, to make her her own person they did her up like a punk-rocker and gave her Kill Bill/Bruce Lee pants! XD
Anyway, this is why I chose the three of them to represent Day 1.
