Description A copy of Advanced Potion-Making by Libatius Borage.

The Making of Advanced Potion-Making

I started off by printing the book's cover found on Google Images and then I glued it onto a piece of thick paper, followed by another, to make a hard cover.
Then I folded and cut ALL of the printer pages to fit perfectly inside of the cover.
I then stapled each bundle together and put a thread through each staple to hold the bundles together.
Finally, I glued and taped the whole bundle of paper to a small piece of paper and then glued that onto the cover.

It took roughly 2 hours to make this copy of Advanced Potion-Making and there are a total of 240 pages inside.

I attended a talk last week in London by the designers of this very book! ^^

I'd probably credit them rather than JK Rowling: www.minalima.com/

Well for now there is nothing but I'm looking at filling it with potions recipes (If I can call it that). However first, I'm going to make a better copy of Advanced Potion Making and then go from there.

Well, I make them all by hand (except for the cover). With permission from users (i.e. :iconLost-In-Hogwarts) I am able to print off the covers. I found the advanced potion-making cover on Google and used it. This one here is of the best quality out of all my books, as I am still learning the fine art of bookbinding. As for selling it, I don't have a paypal account open and I really don't know how much it would cost to send it. Maybe around $10. I do however ship off an acceptance package only to the U.S. at the moment as it only costs me around $4. For the acceptance package, I accept an exchange of points. As soon as I set up a paypal account, I will be willing to exchange for money. Although right now, I do ccept points under certain conditions.

(I can't believe I just spelled "cent" like "sent." I feel really dumb.)

Well, if you post a journal, maybe, (or something of the sort)when you have a PayPal account open, I would love to buy some of your books.
In this economy, artists of every skill deserve every sent, not the mass media! Besides, it's more unique this way!

Well I will keep it into account and thanks. I have never had somebody actually want to buy my art before. Well, I have had people trade for points, but it is definately not the same.

RoseGranger In reply to metalartist2 [2011-08-17 02:33:13 +0000 UTC]

To be honest, this was my first book that I ever made!
The best advice that I can give is to make sure you buy a really strong glue to glue the whole bundle of papers to the cover. I made the mistake of using a glue stick, but I did use staples and thread to hold it all together so it worked.

Your book looks great! Wow i've been looking for a way to bind books that isn't so difficult and this sounds like it! did you have a pattern for putting the thread through the staples? Also, how many staples did you use per bundle? Thanks

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RoseGranger In reply to tkdgirl368 [2011-08-16 16:17:08 +0000 UTC]

I used 3 staples on each bundle and put the thread (pages open facing away from you) towards you inside the staple and then downwards into each one continuing the same pattern. I also (After putting the thread through 4 bundles) brought the thread back to the top bundle and then put it in again and then continued where I left off. I did the same after I finised my final bundle, except I put the thread into the staple 4 bundles above the last one. Then, I again put it through the top one and tied 2 threads together in a know. Then those 2 threads with the last one.
I then glued the pages and taped them to a small piece of paper to hide the threads.
Sorry, I know this probably sounds confusing. o.O
