in super mario odyssey, a bonneton (hat ghost) named cappy allies with mario to rescue peach in a force marriage with bowser, in the meantime cappy uses capture powers to "capture" his enemies powers and use them against them or to solve puzzles, however mario cannot capture an enemy who's wearing a hat. he can knock off some of enemies with hats to take control over them... however there is a character in the kirby series who's also named cappy, though it seems like the "cap" of cappy is like it's own separate entity... (and in super mario odyssey, mario can capture some inanimate objects as well)
