Description from an RP with Furdora
----------

Chillstep padded into camp after her cleaning bath in the lake. She glanced around as the sun peaked over the SnowClan mountains. She searched for Ebonymoon, a sense of urgency filling her veins. She caught sight of him and walked over, a purposeful element to her step. Stopping beside him, she took a deep breath.
"Ebonymoon?" she asked, trying not to sound to forceful in her determination.

----------

Upon the call of his name, Ebonymoon turned to face the one who so urgently demanded his attention. It had become a common occurrence as of late. His clanmates continually seemed interested in meeting him, as if he had found the answers to all their problems now just because the stars deemed him their chosen one. Nothing had changed, not really, not yet.
Chillstep had come up behind him, no doubt the one who shouted for him. She looked clean, certainly better than how she had been looking the past few days. That brought relief to the new leader, though a bit of awkwardness still hung between the two friends. He wasn't sure what she wanted, so he started with a simple, good-natured greeting. "Chillstep, is something the matter?" His words were calm and polite, but seemed very unnatural and stiff presented between the once close-knit friends.

----------

Chillstep winced at the tone he had addressed her with, although she knew she deserved it.
"Well, sort of." She shuffled her paws awkwardly and sat down, her pelt prickling with the uncomfortable environment.
"I... I need to apologize. What I've done in these last few days is unacceptable, and I'm sorry. I... I shouldn't have let grief and hatred blind me to my actions and what it was doing to the cats I care about. To you." She sat stiffly awaiting his judgement. She pleaded silently to StarClan that he would forgive her.

----------

As much as he wished he hadn't, Ebonymoon couldn't deny the initial flinch of the blue warrior his careful, analytic amber eyes caught. As if her pelt held a direct relation to her mental well being, Chillstep had stood up and faced her issues. She was apologizing to him, which brought him relief, though part of him felt at fault to some degree too. As the popular saying went "it took two to tango." The cultured cat didn't know what a tango was exactly but it seemed to fit.
He exhaled a breath he hadn't been aware he was holding, and he smiled thinly. "Life is full of all sorts of trials. It's impossible to always know the right thing to do." His own words took even himself by surprise. Perhaps he had become more preachy since hearing the news. He shook his thoughts with a physical shake of the head. "What's in the past is done and over. We can't go back. We have only the future to look towards. I've made mistakes too, but this time around I'll be sure to correct them. That's all that really matters come the end of the day."

----------

As he spoke, Chillstep felt her fears being put to rest. She smiled in relief and bowed her head in gratitude and respect.
"That's so good to hear you have no idea," she chuckled tiredly, glancing up at him again. "I hope that we can get things back to normal soon. Until then, just know that I'm behind you every step of the way." She felt like she was being a bit too formal, but she didn't want to overstep her bounds. She was having trouble breathing, not in a bad way, but because of the thick emotions she felt inside herself.

----------

"Hey, I didn't say I had no idea at all, thank you." He said in a mock flabbergasted tone, teasing lightly like old times. As a leader he didn't want to completely shut out and change his personality. On the surface, he would put up a somber, cool front, but there was nothing stopping him from joking with old friends.
His smile grew wider and spanned across more of his muzzle. He tilted his head upward and offered his smile to the sky. "The stars still watch over us, and that's all I need to know for now."

----------

Chillstep purred, glad that her old friend was taking it so well. She tilted her head and smiled at him like she used to. "Hey, the stars can't do everything," she teased, "so just in case, if you ever need me in a fight, I'll be there." She nudged his shoulder and then, pausing swallowed. She glanced at him and then shoved her face into his pelt, wrapping her paws around his neck and purring. It was good to have her old friend back.

----------

Ebonymoon made no sign of moving and instead waited until Chillstep was ready to part. With her face buried into his chest, he was sure she didn't catch the pleased and ever patient expression his eyes displayed. His schedule had become busier and and far more pressing now that he was to lead PebbleClan, but the tom knew there was always time for those dear to him.
"Thank you." He finally murmured. Two short, simple words and it was more than enough. The blunt of his appreciation was left unsaid, yet understood between the two comrades.

----------

Chillstep pulled back after what felt like an appropriate amount of time. She sat back, feeling a bit awkward about that. She laughed to releave the tension she felt.
"Thank you." she replied. Things were going to be okay. She knew it in her heart. She shrugged, unsure what to do.
"So what now?"

----------

Mimicking Chillstep, he also took a step back to give a little space between them. Something about her laugh was unsettling, but he shrugged it off.
With a shake of the head, his sweet smile still resting on his face, Ebonymoon responded. "All in good time. Just because we're friends doesn't get you any extra perks." The jet tom flicked an ear dismissively. He knew what he had to do, and he'd present it to the whole clan soon enough. Speaking of which, he had to get back on his agenda, so he moved away from Chillstep, but not before calling. "It was good talking to you, Chillstep."

----------

"You-" she began quietly, and then turned up the volume so he could hear, "You too." She swallowed, nodding to herself. She would have to work for their friendship to get back to exactly where it had been. She had really messed up. No special perks. She was going to earn them. Melancholy, yet whole again, she watched him leave and then turned and went to the warriors' den to have a nice long sleep.

--------------------

Finally, Chillstep has got her act together. It makes me happy inside to see my bby all better. Here's to the future.

Beautiful beautiful comic :'D Your drawings cute as ever, and the words are so meaningful too. At the end of this, having Ebony just leave her behind leaves me feeling sad :'0 Something tells me this is still far from over. They still have a lot to get over
