Description
2007Here is the standard of procedure done with the cover of my Hits and Misses Manga Book 3 Cover.
0 The book cover may or may not represent the contents of the book (depending on the art direction of your manga) but it should always be interesting and eye catching. Sometimes the author or editor will throw in their ideas and collaborate with them or they will just leave the whole thing to us. The important thing is that the art is genuinely "YOU" since its you who will interpret and render the artwork it must express your thoughts and emotion.
1 Make 2-3 sample cover layouts to be submitted to the editors for approval. Why colored pencils and not graphite pencil? To give the editor a glimpse idea of color scheme you intend for the final art. Two birds in one stone!
2 Once the editors decide on the layout to be used with all their comments, suggestions, corrections, alterations and revisions then you proceed to pencils. here I used a non reproduction colored pencil because I like its smooth writing on bristol board.
3 Once the pencils are approved with all revisions discussed to us then it will be inked. If it is tight pencils it will be adjusted to look like black ink in white board or no adjustment at all depending on the art direction.
4 Immediately the line art will be colored based on the color models and schemes provided by the main artist...me : )
The approved version by Real Buzz Studios is here [link]
I hope this deviation helped somewhat for those who aspire to be a manga artist. Hope you like this one.
Notice no artist's signature on the inks and color because some editors don't want them on the cover but they put the credits inside the first few pages.

korek! salamat tol. pero kung hindi sana ako tumigil ng ilang taon at nagserioso sa manga things could have been better ... kaya kailangan pang magpraktis ... don't stop

8 to 10 manga pages of pencil work a day developed blisters on my wee little right pinkie, master but your are right it is very fun in the production team and rewarding as an artist in the end ... specially if your doing it for the US manga market
