So Jeff Pierce is Electric Superman without the costume?

So does this version of Black Lightning still make his eldest daughter, Anissa wear a wig to conceal her identity?Β

She does, but he doesn't make her

He sounds more lenient here, then how his character was depicted in the comics (which does make him look like less of a jackass, since he really was a little too obsessive over concealing his daughter's identities in the comics).

Yeah. I do not see father's being controlling assholes over their daughter's lives to be a heroic trait. I know too many men whose daughters want nothing to do with them because of how controlling their father was. I, likewise, know many women whose lives went off the rails for them because they were so looking for a way to get away from their controlling father that they did anything in their power to drive them apart, even if it did more harm to them than their father.

I keep this in mind always and try to raise my daughters in a way that this is not the fate of me and my own daughters. I tell my daughters that they can talk to me about anything and if they promise to do that and let me be a part of their lives, I will always support them. I may advise them against certain actions, but it is their choice and life to lead; and I will respect that.

Those words are so well said, there's really nothing more that needs to be said.Β

As for the 'controlling assholes' trope; it clear that bullshit like that comes from comic writers who have never been married, or had children. Until they experience that, they will always have a certain ignorance to what those experiences truly like (couple that with the sad reality that many male comic writers are immature men-children who have never matured beyond their teens, despite being in the 30's, 40's and 50's, and the problem only gets worse).

I think a certain level of immaturity helps creativity. People just tend to become less imaginative as they mature. Not always the case, mind you, but just a general observation.

1987man In reply to Roysovitch [2017-03-05 20:27:42 +0000 UTC]

That's certainly true. There's nothing wrong with immaturity its self, but it should still be kept in check. If it's allowed to run rampant, it can be as destructive as the plague.

There is also a difference between immature, insensitive, and ignorant. Just because you are one of those things doesn't mean you are all three.Β

I prefer to emphasize Jeff's relationship with Clark during his early years, but that sounds like a cool scene between him and Bruce.
And it's nice to see he's smart in combat as ever.

Yeah, I kinda inverted it to have him sorta be the Superman of Gotham, in that he tries to inspire hope (like Superman does in Metropolis)

The Justice League are the onea who gave it to Midnite to begin with. They should help get it back.

So any type of electricity can transform a member of the Marvel family, not just thunder bolts that they summon by saying Shazam?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Roysovitch In reply to drawntogetha4ever [2017-04-30 00:30:31 +0000 UTC]

If it's as powerful as a lightning bolt, yeah.

From wikipedia:
... in some older stories, to significantly high voltages of lightning or electricity, which would revert him back to Billy Batson form.

It's an old concept but I liked giving him a weakness that could also be used to his advantage like that.

Well, I guess Billy, Mary and the rest of the Marvel family don't have to worry about being caught in a lightning storm then...
Also assuming that all of Jeff's powers when to his daughters, guess it must take forever for Jeff to get them off there phones
