I'm starting on making one for your s-dragons but only have 11/0 beads to work with and had to add rows to the dragon body, I'm having a really hard time getting the head to work with your pattern layout and the added rows for it can you help? It might be the size bead I'm using for the dragon to wrap around that causing my issue.

Hm. It's kinda hard to say anything without seeing it. Try looking at the links/thumbnails in the description, there is a different head pattern, an alternative tutorial rrkra.deviantart.com/art/S-Dra… and some tips for only using size 11s.Β
Or you can note me a photo of what you have so far

I've looked through the directions, but I can't seem to figure out what size 'large bead' you use. Is there one size you generally stick with, or does it vary from dragon to dragon?

Also, these are absolutely gorgeous, especially the Amethyst dragonsnake. The light 'scales' really make the eyes on her stand out.

Large/central bead varies from dragon to dragon. I usually take 1 to 1.5cm diameter beads for them, if that helps.
Glad you like

Another question for you, about how much thread do you use total?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rrkra In reply to PP-PhantomPhoenix [2015-06-09 20:58:49 +0000 UTC]

I don't really measure it, but somewhere between 2 and 4 meters.

PP-PhantomPhoenix In reply to Rrkra [2015-06-09 23:25:11 +0000 UTC]

Thanks.

And what size are the 'Treasures'? I can't tell from the photos. I checked the other set of directions and can't find the sizes there either.

Rrkra In reply to PP-PhantomPhoenix [2015-06-10 01:02:46 +0000 UTC]

Treasures or Delica are Japanese cylinder beads. They fit between size 15 and size 11 if compared to round beads.Β
If you can't get them, check the workaround in the description, the dragon can be made with only one bead size too

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PP-PhantomPhoenix In reply to Rrkra [2015-06-10 01:31:50 +0000 UTC]

Oh! I've never heard them called 'Treasures' before. So size 11 or 15 Delicas?

Thanks for answering all my questions btw.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rrkra In reply to PP-PhantomPhoenix [2015-06-10 02:23:30 +0000 UTC]

It's two different companies, but the beads are pretty much the same. You want the more common size 11 Delicas for this.
No problem^^

I just came across this via Pinterest. I love it. I'm going to try beading one, but I have an idea to try doing the body with herringbone and adding 2 hole triangles for the spine. Thanks for finally getting me interested in beading once again!

It's strange that you don't see the tutorial itself, it should display on this page =O Might be something with your browser.

I've been using your amazing tutorials to make dragon pets for a while now. I've adapted my own patterns for them from your own, and have started adding wings. If you're at all interested, you can see what I've done with your amazing tutorials and inspiration here: ayas-beads.deviantart.com/gall…

What do you mean by peyote +1? I haven't worked peyote before and the tutorials I look up aren't overly helpful...

You can look here for basicsΒ bnb.jewelrymakingmagazines.com… Β beadwork.about.com/od/beadings… or just google for seed bead beginner patterns, there are plenty of them

Treasure and Delica beads are somewhere between size 15 and size 11 beads.Β 2.bp.blogspot.com/_AA-JsPqTKTo…

I posted your S-Dragon on a page, now I have to make one (aside from me wanting one ) for a friend who went crazy about them.... in every color..... They are lovely!
Silly Q? (I asked earlier, then signed up realizing, I might hear of an answer that way)... is the dragon worked on two sides or made flat except for the head?Β
Thank you so much for sharing your tutorial!

Q... the size of the crystal bead, the large one?
I ordered some beads I was missing to try this

What size is the big crystal?

Thank you very much for your excellent tutorial

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rrkra In reply to Cerise357 [2014-04-27 19:32:24 +0000 UTC]

The central big bead? Any size works, but 0.8cm diameter and bigger is easier to work with.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cerise357 In reply to Rrkra [2014-04-28 02:20:31 +0000 UTC]

Thank you... I think that is about 8mm.... I know I could have just made it fit but...Β
that makes it easier

That's what I do - just make it fit XD
