Looks great, is definitely good quality and nice looking design, but practically the default skin is far easier on the eyes and thus easier to navigate / understand.
Awesome skin. Just wish i could use it without straining my eyes. Back to default

I understand completely. Personally I am a dark text on white background person; I have always found it easier on the eyes, and I prefer strong contrast. However, designing a Left 4 Dead themed skin was impossible without utilizing dark colors and low contrast. I do have other Steam skins which you can find here ; many of them have stronger contrast and are far easier to use on a regular basis.
Also, I appreciate you taking the time to register here solely to add your input; I understand what a painful task it can be to register on a new community just to give feedback. So, again, thank you.

You probably have it in the wrong place. You should have a Left 4 Dead folder in C:\Program Files\Steam\skins. In the Left 4 Dead folder, you should see a total of 6 folders.

what i did is just move all the folders not just the 1 folder L4d folder

Alright, after a good look through and a nice match in L4D, I have to say: WOW. This looks professional, like... Valve paid you to do it!
I love the little touches like the different border around icons now, and especially the main window's aesthetics. Other things that struck me as cool were the sharp edges around the border and tab area, and the way games are highlighted with a black bar that blends into the background. All of this while retaining a theme of one of my most favorite games.
So yeah... you won, sir. You beat the original Steam theme itself. You should REALLY be proud!

The friendlist player icon border I don't really like, I would prefer just a solid color. Other than that, it's awesome

It was a lot of trial and error in the beginning, along with many educated guesses. By now I have a very thorough understanding of it, so I no longer have to guess and check.
