Description
I used to read those books. I like the main idea, but sometimes the books can go on and on about one thing for like five chapters....I sprited the canon colors, and added some originals. Text in blue is male, text in pink is female.

I'm not too fond of them, imo they don't reflect Pern dragons correctly. They're a nice try though.
I'm also biased though, because I hate "custom" colours.. They don't exist in Pern, if you want purple dragons, go watch Barney or something.
Plus, if Anne saw this, she wouldn't be happy about those.. She's very strict on Canon Fanart.

I know. I once tried to start a DRoP rping website. When I asked somebody who had a directory of such sites to list it, they told me I had to get it approved by Anne. I was so naive back then, I hardly even knew what rping was. Anyway there were rules coming out the wazoo. I never got it approved, the approvers always managed to find one tiny thing I did wrong. I wasnt even including my own colors. I didnt get interested in making up colors until I found the DRoP rp guilds on neopets, they were always doing things Anne wouldnt like.
I've drifted away from DRoP...Anne's too strict on her fans. She needs to realize that no matter how much she rants and raves and controls the fandom with an iron fist, there's still going to be people who don't follow her rules. But she can run her series the way she wants to I guess.

Yeah, I do agree.. She is MUCH too strict, especially with the flaws she and her story do have, yaknow? But it's hers.. I mean, if she came and saw the picture you posted, having "pern" even in the title or description, because it's uncanon, she could sue you.. and win.. LOL.
Since she has copyright to the title, she's letting anyone who posts that, use it.. for free.. given it's what she wants, otherwise, you're not allowed to use it..

Well, it obvious some people have never played non-canon 
Some people like to make up new colors just stricty for creativeness in roleplays.
Anyways, to comment; Your colors flow alot better than some I have seen. All the names "match." Like there's no 'ruby' or 'sunshine' color whose name just wouldn't fit in with the rest. Also, I like how you didn't double colors like having both a 'blue' and an 'aqua' or some other shade of blue. I can't say I like non-canon very much, but you have at least done it tastefully.
Oh, and your bronze is a little off. Its supposed to be a greeny-gold color. But I love the icons over-all.

I love making up new colors. I did have ruby, sapphire, and emerald once. I had a bunch of colors you'd think wouldnt match...like blaze, ice, bone, rust, etc. Never heard of a sunshine though.
I thought about doing the gemstones. But I figured that would make too many queen/king dragons.

I loved the dragonriders of pern books! Although, I'm certain that the books only had Gold, bronze, brown, blue, and green (and in one exception, white...)ones. nice to see art of them, nonetheless. I certainly hope what you say about the movie is true, havn't heard anything of it....

a friend on a different site siad that a canadian film company is makeing a movie about Anna McCffery's book's on dragonriders of pern and the movie will be released next year 2008

Yup, Copperheart optioned the books for film. But they haven't even completed the script, it certainly won't be out in 2008 (initial estimates are ALWAYS off).
Sorry to nitpick, but it's actually genetically impossible for Pern dragons to be anything other than Gold, bronze, brown, blue, green or white. Cute sprites though
