The opener for JAZAN WILD'S FUNHOUSE of HORRORS "It's a Madhouse Out There!" Issue 3 -Jake Stone find himself on his way to yet another town who's soul's scream with pain and mystery!I decided to do this whole issue in inkwash,...it was a fun experiment but ultimately, it just added another step to the whole process.

Great job. I'm really loving the angle of the car on the first panel, although the tree angle seems slightly off. But regardless... that car just pops out. I also love the tree reflections in the windows and the light on the tires

Having you notice all those details really makes the work, worth it.

Thanks, you know I really appreciate that. I've been working from pre-done storyboards another artist did and I added that panel and changed a few others for the sake of the story.

No sweat, it just pops out at me. The whole page is great, I really enjoy how you show the car speeding in the top panel, reflections in the glass, the attention of detail to the forest. But panel 3 just has this great depth to it that makes it feel real.

I should have posted these sooner, after doing the pages for issue 4 these don't seem so detailed but I do like the inkwash in these. I went back to ground zero I decided to focus more on pencils for issue 4.

lol-Well we all have different stages of progress. I want to be where, Jim Lee, Mark Silvestri, Greg Capullo and Finch are,....just to name a few.

ok, a piece of advice? get away from Capullo, and Finch, those guys are insane, it could take weeks to finish a page with much detail and line work, Lee and Silvestri are better, you can feel the details, but they have this way of short handing shapes and shadows to give an impression of the visual, they are the true master dude. capullo and Finch overwhelm the reader's eyes with scratching lines.

I hear you. Jim Lee is the reason I always wanted to draw comics. Ever since I saw the cover to Punisher War Journal #8 at a 7-11. As far the artists I mentioned. I don't strive to be like any one of them actually, they're just inspiration and an example of the level of art or success I work for. Even in that, I'll find my own way. I don't necessarily want to be sucked into the machine that is Marvel or DC.
Every artist I look up to or even in my peers I see their strengths and I kull from that. Capullo and McFarlane have a sense of motion and looseness that underscores their detail. Finch, has the strong uses of blacks that creative strong forms. Silvestri and Jim's art is a balance of everything. I know a lot of peers and other artists see the flaws in art in general or other artists. I ignore that, focus on their strengths and incorporate them in my work. The only flaws I obsess about are in my own work so I'm always trying to have the best version of me out there.

it's a cool way of looking at their work (capulo and Mcfarlane), but if you really wanna know who has the strongest art look at Silvestri's early work on X-men or Wolverine, specially Wolverine issues that DAN GREEN inked, those are the BEST!! i like those even more than Jim Lee's X-men because he was a bit over detailed in those X-men issues.

The choice to do this in inkwash was a good one. This whole panel seems alot more dramatic now. Especially the first panel.
