Description
Here is the pencil work for The Quest's Issue #3, which I'm not sure if and when it will hit stands at this point. Technical issues with the Publisher Daystar Studios Ent.Here it is anyway!
While you're here, check out my local studio, Project 4 Studios and a piece that I did for Hired Gun #2 last year. [link]

Do you ink your own stuff JC? It always look professional. I'm trying, I mean do you use brushes and stuff?

Thanks, man. Yeah, I do ink my own stuff . I use brushes, Staedler pigment liners, rapidographs and markers... and a lot of white out, of course. I don't think I am as good as I'd like to be, but I am trying too. I do really love doing it, though. I have been inking using only brushes strictly these past months and while it was really harder I think I learned a lot from it. I am using all the tools now . I'll be focusing in my penciling these coming months, though.

Yeah, I could see the brush work which I admire. It takes a steady hand and lots of skill. You've got a classic feel to your work. I can't wait to see you post more JC.

Thanks, Rudy! Yeah, I love Silver Age comics and all that. However, I am thinking about modifying my style a bit in order to make it look more modern. People like grittier artwork nowadays. I dunno, just a thought. I'll be posting some more pics soon. Thanks, bro.

You're getting more dynamic and 3 dimensional, Rudy. Something's changed, in a big way and I'd like to ask "what"- but I'm having trouble trying to pinpoint where it actually is. I'm pretty happy just looking at this cover, but I think you put too many lines on the girl. Every line, every piece of hatching and cross hatching will contribute a texture to her, to her clothes, but it's psychological for me to know that something with a sharp texture will graze my skin and draw blood. So I try to avoid that. On women, hot women, I don't want to be avoiding them. Enough with the science talk, I'm in love with Timarkee's waist here.

*Shrugs*
I just took a guess that that was her name and not the book's title, so it stuck?

sure is flawless man. I mean, I try to look at what's wrong with the drawing, and can't find any. Plus, look at the comment you get here. If you didn't trust me, this many comment won't lie didn't they?
Oh, thanks for the ad for my piece. How rude I am saying that this is flawless but not even include it in my fave. So here we go.
I'll look forward for the colored version.

*sigh* IΒ΄m afraid I canΒ΄t give any inventive comments, the art is marvellous as usual^^
IΒ΄ve got only two questions: is her hair caned to braids or dreadlocks? And are there feathers or leaves in the end of those?
π: 0 β©: 1
RudyVasquez In reply to LilithSchlangenauge [2007-09-12 22:18:24 +0000 UTC]
Agh!! Those BRAIDS killed me the whole issue. I didn't design her since the artist I took over for did that I had to draw her with braids and those leaves, are supposed to be the tufts of hair at the end. Poorly executed I know, but I think I kind of worked that out by the end of issue 2. Thanks for asking!

LilithSchlangenauge In reply to RudyVasquez [2007-09-13 14:48:19 +0000 UTC]
ThatΒ΄s always the problem: people design characters and donΒ΄t bother about artists who have to draw them all the time or about cosplayers who rack their brains how to construct the clothes so that they look authentic and are wearable <.<

Cool, I love He-Man. I had an awesome Christmas one year, when I found Castle GreySkull and a Snake Mountain under the tree! My loin cloth heroes had new digs.
