Description
I always start out a page thinking, no sweat and underestimate how much detail I will eventually have to do. One I start it I can't NOT do it. Sometimes I wish I had a very simple style. *sigh* Oh well.Related content

How do you keep your pencilling so crisp. Do you trace over roughs with a light box.

I'm just careful and use very smooth paper.

I get into that with coloring pages sometimes. I think that because there isn't that many characters or there isn't that many panels that I'll have it easy. And then I end up obsessing over this one thing, and it ends up taking me as long as a regular full page. -_-

I just checked out the various Something Evil pages you posted here Rudy. I think this is my favorite. I like the look of that fortress and the dude on the throne looks badass. Excellent pencil work as usual. Nice job overall.

Nope, they hired an inker, don't know who though. He's going to start on inking the pages after I complete the issue. Thanks for asking!

i wish i had a less than simple style, mines called "my style". i wish i can put forth the effort and sweat (while drawing?) that you put in your comics and such. I feel better about my art when it shows enough detail. Thats maily why i probably cant feel good about realsing a better comics of mine, which lack detail and thought.
*bows to you* you own at that

You have the talent, it just takes patience. Not to be confused with procrastination, which I tend to get confused with.

Simple or complex, this is very cool. Personally, details is the aspect of comic art that I appreciate the most. It tells me that the artist truly cares what he or she puts down on the canvas (or in this case paper). Keep up the good work.

Haha, you remind me of when it comes to your detailing Rudy. I was talking to him about the details on some pages from our next project. Here's a paraphrased quote of his reply: "I can't help myself. I draw a fireplace, and then I think there should be a poker. And then I think well, if there's a fireplace it's because it gets cold, so I slap up a window. And then I think, well, if they have a window, they should have shutters to protect them from the weather." I just laughed.

great stuff!

Yeah, thanks. I think the INKEr that does my stuff whoever he is will hate me. He's been hired but will not start on my pages until all 3 issues are completed.

gz12wk In reply to RudyVasquez [2006-05-16 13:59:34 +0000 UTC]
woah! so he wants all 3 issues penciled before he starts inking!?! thats a lot of waiting... what does that do to your deadline?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
RudyVasquez In reply to gz12wk [2006-05-18 23:02:37 +0000 UTC]
It actually makes my deadline pretty flexible since, the inker isn't breathing down my neck for more pages. Just my editor.
