i was just going through your gallery, and this one jumped out at me, just because i thought that the way you did carnage was a bit questionable. the amount of skill you put in all of your pictures is phanomanal, but i think the proportions on carnage was a bit off.

That's ok, you're so totally right on this,...I am always tempted to put it in scraps but someone colored it so well I can't. There are more things wrong with this piece I did so long ago but I appreciate your honesty.

Why, if it's the truth? I think if it's glaringly obvious, it can be like someone telling you there's a huge pimple on your forehead even though you've known it's been there since the moment you woke up, but......hey. It's art and if we can't take criticism then don't make it public right?

I can see a Dale Keown influence in detailing. Looks awesome though. Might have to keep an eye on you.

Thanks, I appreciate the comment. I don't really think of Dale Keown, but then again his style was influened by people I'm sure I do think about. We all tend to rub off on each other one way or another.

What would you say your influence is then? In terms of style I like this pic of yours best.

Oh, man. Too many to list, but my number one being Jim Lee, others,..like Leinel Yu, John Romita Sr./Jr., Finch, Quesada, the Top Cow house styles, bits and pieces from so many more. I really try to absorb from studying the printed work of other artists and letting it sink in so when I do draw I'm not copying any one person or style but honestly expressing myself and allowing those techniques to naturally make their way into my work.

Firstly, let me say that at first, I thought, "What is JRJR doing on DA?" You've ot that kind of style, and in my opinion it's awesome.
Second, would you mind if I inked this?

Not at all, if you can stomach the mistakes, be my guest. Thanks! I love JRJR!

Damn this is an awesome drawing. I always have trouble drawing Spidey's legs like that but you did it quite well.

Wow, I'm so jealous of the amount of detail that you can get into your pictures. Looks so cool...
What tools and materials do you use? Just wondering cause it looks like pencil, but when I use pencil it usually smears.

It's just a simple tech pencil. BIC I think. I don't get fancy. They all have different colored grippies though.

guess I'm just sloppy then.
And yes, they do have different colored grips. The one I'm using for taking notes in class has a maroon grip. But currently I'm in my psychology class. Where I use my laptop to "take notes." i.e. sign onto the wireless network and surf the net.

You sound kinda sloppy, but sloppy is good sometimes. In expressive art, In Sloppy Joes, in quickies. You see it can be a welcome thing.

Ooooh, but I soooooo want to be able to draw like you can, clear, clean, crisp, precise, with no visual flaws. Sigh.
*is jealous*

I love bright colors!
Thanks, but I would trade that for looking as beautiful as you, living breathing perfection,...pretty in a, uh, manly way of course.

Haha, I am so not "living breathing perfection." For one thing, you won't see me posting the bad pictures, and on a similar not, I do have photoshop, it's not hard to make the skin smoother, the eyes bluer, and the trees greener (not that do to much doctoring). Basically I'm not as pretty as the photos can lead people to believe. Course I never like to focus much on my looks, anyway. Schoolwork always seemed more timeworthy, as pathedic as that sounds. I guess I always strive for perfection in what I do, rather than in what I look like. Heh.

Add a +watch, and I'll add you back.
I have to admit. I'm attracted to your personaility and avid interest in your work, but perfection is in the imperfections. Those raw moments and subtle flaws are what make people truly beautiful.

Hehe, now if only my online personality matched my real life personality... I'm so much more outgoing and friendly and honest with people online than I would ever be in person. But I guess that's true of a lot of people.
I'd have to say it is more of an avid interest in the process and improving my work than an interest in the work itself.
And yes flaws are what make us human. There is nothing wrong with imperfection. But I just think it would be great to finsh a piece of artwork, and see nothing I would do differently, and be 100% satisfied with what I have created. *shrugs* But I'm usually always experimenting. I think it would be hard for me to stick to one style and method for my artwork. But I like to be creative. I like trying to think of different ways of doing things, while combining methods I've used, or learned about in the past. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...
Course as much as I'd love to do art, I highly doubt I'd have much of a chance "making it." Sigh, at least I'm naturally good at math, aye. Provides venues for back-up plans.
