To counter balance the onslaught of very nice, cute drawings inspired by How To Train Your Dragon (nothing wrong with cute stuff!!!), how about a bit of giant dragon spewing out fire like a burning oil rig.Said giant dragon is called The Red Death.
Or the Green Death, according to the soundtrack.
I don't know which is right, so let's just call it Burninator.
Something I don't do enough of: color sketches.
Guuuuuh, I need practice! Practice with lighting, practice with everything. That's what happens when you spend most of your time drawing B&W.
I can't even call this a quick sketch, as I kept experiment with brushes, layers and what nots.
HTTYD belongs to Dreamworks and Cressida Cowell.

Ha. This rocks. I totally love the dark, impending sense of doom this vibes. The swirling mass of darkness that is the sky looks fantastic. I can tell you spent a lot of time getting it just right.

i really really like this piece, you seem a bit down on it when you shouldnt. its style is very appealing. good work.

I must say this is the most impressive Dreamworks film I have seem thus far. I was pretty happy to see a little more wing membrane at the base, unlike the "Spyro" dragon model which would be incapable of flight.
As usual, I am impressed by every project that you work on!

love the dark and stormy mood of the colors here, very dramatic. Have you ever worked on any movies/tv where you were creating things more along these lines, instead of storyboards? Because it reminds me a lot of concept art I've seen... you got the skillz to do it all

Very nice! Love the way the whole thing is laid out! My only suggestion would be to enhance the orange light from the fire that reflects onto the clouds, dragons, etc. to give the fire a glow.

The Red Death?! I've been calling the dragon the Queen Dragon! (Blame Astrid's queen bee analogy! Hahaha! Oops!)
Though I am not artist I really like the brush strokes in this fan art. It makes it feel like this was something someone painted during the time period of How To Train Your Dragon.

If the "Burniator" isn't instant nightmare fuel, I don't know what is. XD Anyways, this picture captures the feel of that scene perfectly, really presents the intensity and the challenge Hiccup and Toothless had to face. Very well done.

I was so many shades of happy when I found out that you had worked on HTTYD. I mean, I boarded the ship with you with the Water Tribe, but you just changed course to awesome overload.
