Quick sketches of the main cast for How To Train Your Dragon (opens March 26th 2010 in North America).It is different from the original book, so if you have read or are planning to read it...yes. Big differences.
The movie itself doesn't reinvent anything: it is an often told story with known themes, so no big surprises. What is important though is trying to tell it well, and for a movie that was done in barely more than a year (feature animated films usually take 2 to 4 years), I believe it has succeeded.
The more fun to draw are the other kids (the twins Ruffnut and Tuffnut, Fishlegs and Snotlout), Gobber and Toothless. Sorry Hiccup and Astrid!

It was originally based on a young readers' book of the same name. There's a whole serie even.

I saw your name in the credits! Congrats on working on such a fantastic movie. Out of all the Dreamworks movies, this was the best. I've loved your work since Avatar and I'm hoping I get to see HTTYD comics and shipping

I saw it opening day after school! It was every bit as great as I expected it to be; even my mom loved it. I've been trying to draw Hiccup, but I'm not used to him yet. Great picture!

Hiccup can be tricky. I know I make the mistake of not giving him enough forehead. Have fun drawing him in your style.

Just came back from the movie myself and of course had to hunt down some fanart.
It had a predictable plot but that's fine seeing as it's a children's movie and sometimes you just wanna relax with predictable. The characters were cute, love Tuffnut and Ruffnut.
I think you drew them super!

i loved this movie! yeah the story was predictable, but it managed to be entertaining the whole time. and a great twist at the end. cool fanart of it. the twins could have had more screen time, you know, and the rest of the bullies, but it didn't really harm the story much. It could do with a series?
