Just so you guys know, JTM stands for "Just a Thought in the Morning." It'll be a prefix to any new comics that I'll make containing similar themes to the one above.

Ahhh! I'm never doing something like this ever again! This comic page is long and cost me too much time to make. I'm usually someone who likes to paint in one sitting because if I stop, I'm probably not gonna come back to it. But I wanted this comic finished (it's been almost 2 years since that Pinkie comic I made and no, it didn't take me 2 years to make this one, that would be CRAZY inefficient!). I just started like 4 or 5 days ago and I knew it would take me a while but man I hated that.
*Side note:
A bunch of people keep taking from the paragraph above that I'm not gonna be doing this anymore. What I meant by the rant above is that I'm not gonna set myself up to render out a comic that is long and heavy on the lighting and mood panel by panel. I'm not that good. But I know I'm stubborn so I might do it anyway.
Anyway, enough of that rant. Above is a concept about Applejack and her... problem. What if she couldn't make babies? I felt she needed more depth because she's kinda flat in the show so I gave her this! Now she has more reason to be so family oriented.
So enjoy the comic guys, or don't. It all depends on what you choose to take in ^_^

I have a couple other of these kind of comics in production. I'll probably make one for each of the Mane 6 so stay tuned (hopefully not 2 years worth of waiting this time around, XD)

And oh, the story was gonna take a different turn before what you've just read. It would have transpired differently but with the same theme and had to do with oranges as you can see here in the conceptual painting of it: The Orange in the Basket
And there was even one where it involved a daisy.
I might post those for you guys to see, or not. Depends whether I'll be lazy to do so. But it was hard to pinpoint how the story would come together in both those so I ditched them.

I'm just like you. I rather draw something 10 hours straight because if I stop, there is big chance that I'll never go back to it.
But what you did there totally worth the frustration. I enjoyed everything of it.

I'm glad you like it ^_^ Just make sure to take breaks during those drawings b/c if you don't it actually takes longer. It has to do with your brain energy, kinda like muscles. Take breaks otherwise you're gonna hurt yourself

I see a lot of fan material that has Applejack turn out to be sterile. Wonder why that's such a popular idea for her. Well, anyway, this was well executed.

I guess it's collective unconscious. I actually haven't read anything about AJ being sterile. I usually don't go out of my way to read MLP comics (for the fact that some of them go out of character and off model) so if I happen upon one by chance, I read it.
Anyway, AJ is the most family oriented character in the series. Something terrible like this is sure to fuel that drive because it has to come from somewhere and the "somewhere" I gave her is infertility.

My guess is family is important as canon, and projection of the farming-family dynamic stereotype make the idea come up more often. Add in Applejack is the closest to a mother in the Mane 6 with her Applebloom dynamic. Once the subject matter comes up it just becomes rule of drama, "suffering must happen".
I still find it odd, though I've seen it twice.

Seems like humor comics are the norm for MLP fanart these days. It's very refreshing to get a down to earth drama. Especially one that's so well draw.

Kind of, I guess... Existing against heavy odds probably feels a lot like existing under normal circumstances... I don't think it left much of an effect on me, except being chronically underweight and a bit short for my age...
I've concluded that if I eat small meals, I lose weight at a rate of one pound a day... Gaining is a struggle, and even the freaking state thinks I'm not eating enough... I eat a normal amount, but I don't weigh a normal amount. It's really hard to understand all those people who complain about how they can't lose weight when I can't gain any...
