Character sheet #3, Fredbear. Or, as my one beta has dubbed him: Lord of This Dead Guy, Ruler of WTF is Going On Here?Misc Fredbear facts:
His nickname when I first started coming up with this was Virgil. If you're familiar with Inferno, you know why.
Other nicknames that have come up: hell tour guide Fredbear, eldritch abomination Fredbear
Fredbear is a walking example of the A Form You Are Comfortable With trope. This isn't what he looks like normally. This isn't even what he's looked like on other jobs. Fredbear's default state is more old school biblically freakish. Think 'great big wheel, covered in eyeballs, actively on fire' kind of deal. Fredbear is freaky.
He's also very, very old. This isn't his first rodeo. Unfortunately, the last few assignments he's had have...not gone well. It's wearing on him.
Fortunately, he does have friends and coworkers among the afterlife bureaucracy lot, and they try to cheer him up. They figured Springtrap's case might be nice, easy win for him. (Fredbear himself would disagree at the moment.)
Split face, or just one pixelated eye, is my favorite way to draw him. It has just the right level of 'oh, that's not right' to it.
Fredbear can't get drunk. Yes, this is a nod to Dogma.
He can also swear properly in a non-flipside setting, which is something of a feat.

He's not a deity, really, but he's definitely part of the whole celestial cohort. A deity is a bit farther up on the chain of command. In FNAF World, though, he's most powerful person there.

I think of him as at an angelic sort of level, though I know I'm probably tromping all over all sorts of biblical rules concerning them. It's close enough for my purposes.

I'm a bad gamer, and have only played a tiny bit of Half Life. I own the Orange Box, I've just...never gotten around to it. I did enjoy Freeman's Mind, though.

Both get heavy sighs. He's aware that these versions of them are just reflections of things, but with Golden Freddy in particular, theres' significance to their being there. But he's not afraid of them. Fredbear is the scariest thing in FNAFWorld, hands down.

So he is quite 'Other' from the bots (Foxy, Bonnie, etc.) then? I like this bit of insight into the character - I had simply assumed his glitchy/worldly/fed-up qualities were due to his having been stuck in the flip side for so long ... and perhaps being roped into answering to an as-of-yet-unseen force.

Yep. The way I think of it is there's three groups: the natives (the animatronics, weird cases like Stumpy, Purple Guy, and the paper plate gang), ex-humans (Springtrap), and Other. Fredbear is very, very Other. Though he's gotten a good amount of attachment to the natives. He's been keeping an eye on them for several decades at this point, while waiting for Springtrap to finally catch up to his own afterlife.
The glitching on his part is mostly to unnerve Springtrap. (That particular effect on Springtrap is kind of wearing off at this point, though it also serves as a nice visual reminder to him that Fredbear Means Business at that particular point in time.)

I have a few gags planned relating to it; one for in-comic, one as a general doodle. Not sure when they'll come up yet, though.
