HE'S DONE. I'd actually expected to finish him up tomorrow, but figured why not fight with the LEDs now, get it over wit. Overall, I'm really happy with him-the expression on him is so much better, and I feel like I got closer to on-model with him than I did with head #1. The major sticking point with this one was the ears-turns out the plastic, reusable straws I'd used before are a seasonal item, and I was unable to find anymore. Then the springs I tried to use turned out to be way too bendy to use on their own.End breakdown of the ears: one spring, three leftover bits of straw, one caramel apple stick for extra support. And a lot of hot glue, to tack down the edges to the rest of the head for additional connection points. This makes his ear floppier and not as upright as it could be, but I'm okay with the look and it should make storing him easier.
I'll be at Wizard World Austin this month, and I'm really looking forward to it. Last thing I need to do is sew my neck cover.

Haha defiantly just like if u have the whole costume done then just get a chainsaw with no chain and chase kids (lol I'm a horrible person because me and my freinds do that) we actually did this once we all dressed in scary cosplay or costumes and used chain saws without chains and would run around the neighborhood in a loud chainsaw pack (pretty shure that's danberous to run with one but hey I'm stupid)

Yep, three AAAs in a battery pack. I got these in violet: dreamvision-creations.myshopif⦠Note the fragility warning; this made me VERY nervous as I was gluing them in place. Here's hoping they stay in working order.

Oh nice. Fingers crossed they dont fall when moved (maybe try a test run?). The purple is a good choice: one for purple guy and two because it gives a dimmer, more sinister look. Good job!

They're glued in where they stick out through the buckram onto the eyelid, and then the wiring is glued in place in several spots inside the head, so I'm thinking that should give things enough flex to not break if tugged at, while keeping them in place and not sliding/falling out. So far they've held up to me popping the head on and off constantly today as I messed with foam padding on the inside.

Cool! Hey for wiring thats pretty well organized (with the battery pack in each resepective side of the head for balance and stuff). Nice.

The battery pack on either side makes it a little tricker to get on the than the original head, but turning the edges out slightly and then pulling it on seems to work.

Unfortunately, no. I did a test rig, but the actual jaw movement with the top and lower jaws added on was really hard to see. The lower jaw does hang down and expose the teeth when I wear it, though, because of the weight of the battery packs.

The purple doesn't show up quite as brightly as I'd like in-person, but it seems like cameras really pick up on the color. I'm looking forward to Halloween this year; I'm expecting a 50/50 split of delighted trick or treaters vs ones peeing themselves in primal terror.
