PC, windows xp.
I have it installed it for a long time and used it for years. But since the last time I had to format the disk it stopped working. I trying updating the version but with no results. It's says that I need to install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 or superior. I've installed the superior version (.4) and the problem continues. I tried re-installing the 3.5 SP1 pack again, but somewhere in the middle of the installation some kind of error happens and it automatically cancels the installation... This is pissing me off, but I'm not re-formating my disk again, at least not until it is strictly necessary.

No, it can't be it. I've been using Paint.NET and the .NET framework thing for years, in this computer, with no problems. This is a rather recent development.
Oh well, I can still use my beloved Paint Tool Sai so I'll survive
