Description
This is a picture of Vie, one of the main characters in a recent story of mine, which is currently being called By Any Other Name (title subject to change). It's the story I was working on for NanoWrimo. Which, by the by, went pretty well, although I didn't make the deadline.Anyway, the picture didn't turn out quite the way I was hoping, so I attacked it with borders and had lots of fun. I'm pretty happy with it despite all that, but it still feels like it's missing something.
Edit: moving to scraps. I can do better...

I like how the background looks like a painting The borders make it look like it's really framed
I like it lots!

Ther soft light is nice, but teh dress doesn't have any texture; the techniquee looks AMAZING on her hair, but her dress, which is the biggest (though not most prominent, that's the hair) thing in the scene...go in and add seams, borders, a look at how a garment clings to a woman's waist and hips, etc, and add those wrinkles....as it is, it shows no volume of her body, or texture of its own. I love the position, though, there is a lot of tension

yeah, the problem with my painting style right now is that I haven't come up with a good way of doing textures/wrinkles/etc...

drape a dress (like that green one we got at a garage sale with the band way back when) over a chair, or wear it for a sec and look in the mirror...take a picture...then use it as refrence. You don't have to do it all by memory! ^.~

good idea. I'll either do that, or make someone model a similar dress for me sometime soon.

Oh, I like the way you did this, especially her hair. The light hitting it is really soft.
