"Easy Sol." Aaron whispered, leading her to the arena. Sol flicked her ears toward the sound and snorted. Kelly had told him she was really spooky, and he believed it. Everywhere she went there was something scary to her, a tree, a plastic bag, you name it. Even to Jakes distaste, he planned to hang out with Kelly after their training session, so he planned to make this one quick (Ohh ).
"Easy Sol." He said again, leading her to the middle of the round pen. He mounted her and clicked, and they walked around the arena a couple of times. He cued her into a trot, and that when she spooked. A lizard jumped off the high fence onto her leg, and she flew the other way.
"Ugh would you calm down!" Aaron said through bared teeth. He clenched his legs to her sides, remembering he had saddled her with a stirrup less saddle. He took deep breaths in between her long strides, calming down. If he did, she would too. Eventually, the mare ran herself out and stopped by the gate, gasping for air.
"We ain't done honey." Aaron mumbled to her. As if she understood him, she hung her head and let out a long sigh. He turned her toward the middle of the arena and started their routine.
