This is the final installment in my Animal affinities series, and this one is for ME. So, behold my own spirit animal, the Merlin!
I am selfishly going to give this to myself -- framed -- as a birthday present. It will be so hard to wait those seven days to put it up on my wall . . .

Merlins are small forest falcons, just a little bigger than the American Kestrel. They are highly territorial and aggressive, and are known to fight off other birds several times their size. Personally, I have seen them fight off a Bald Eagle. Merlins tend to be loud and sometimes obnoxious when they vocalize. Their main diet consists of small birds such as warblers. They are breed in the forests of northern North America, Russia, and northern Europe. Like other falcons and hawks, the Merlin can be both curious and silly at times.
I tend to more or less share characteristics with Merlins in those respects. The bird-eating part refers to my love of bird meat and the breeding range part refers to the fact I prefer those biomes to others. The observation with the Bald Eagle was just a fun fact, and does not say that I am some sort of Anti-American/anachist. Know that I am not either of those things.
