It was short, touching, and shipped Macrity. So I kind of loved it. But how the hell does Pinkie Pie outlive Fluttershy? Pony eats chocolate cake every damn day! LOL

I...I really dont know what to say, this gorgeous piece of work has kept me in tears hours after reading it even as I write this comment, ok mustering my self up to finish now, I CAN DO THIS! now! getting technical, phenomenally easy to read flows perfectly the plot is solid but you said that the CMC's were in their early seventies? that would make Rarity and Apple jack well into their nineties or even more? that was the only beef i had with it idk it seems now Twilight and the rest died so young... I cried many tears from this and this is the first fan fic to ever make me do it on that scale congrats on a job well done! now if you'll excuse me i have more crying to do T^T

To answer your question about the ages, have some math I did before I wrote this fic!

Twilight– 19, died at 81
Fluttershy – 21, died at 68
Pinkie – 20, died at 72
Dash – 19, died at 82
Applejack – 20, still alive
Rarity – 20, still alive

47 years after start of series Fluttershy died
52 years after start of series Pinkie Pie died
61 years after start of series Twilight Sparkle died
62 years after start of series Rainbow Dash died
It is 64 years after the start of the series
Applejack and Rarity are now 84.

Applebloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle were 7 at the start of the series. They are now 71, they have grandkids.

Thank you very much for your feedback

I cant' find words to describe how beautiful this story is, you got me tearing up by this. To me, this has a lot of meaning and I never expected to see Spike taking that so well. But as I was reading it, that made sense taking into account the ones who raised him and what he had learned from them. I find difficult to take situations like this, but I also agree to see the loss of the ones we love as something that we have to deal in life. It could be painful but it pains as much as we cared and loved the ones who are not right here, but will always be by our side. I had to recognize, my understanding in English is better than my writing skills, but I had to share this reply. Congratulations, this was a beautiful story that will remain in my heart. I hope to see more material like this in the future.

I'm glad you included the idea that there's more than just sadness in this situation. Sometimes it seems like people think Spike is going to spend the rest of his life nothing but depressed after he loses his first friends. The mixture of all kinds of emotions makes for a much more moving story.

The part where you said, "Before the pain there was years of laughter, love, fun and friendship. And the pain he felt from losing a friend was just the acknowledgement of how much that pony meant to him." fits especially perfectly with my thoughts on the matter. So perfectly, in fact, I want to mention something I said in the description of one of my pictures :

"The way I see it, while of course it's sad to part from those you care about, it's also a reminder of why they've mattered to you. I think a dragon would know better than anyone that the greater the sadness that comes from losing someone you care about, the happier you are to have had them in your life. In time, most thoughts won't be sadness at their absence, but fond memories of times spent together."

Thank you, and I fully agree. That's one of the reasons I wanted to write and post this story - it's a canon fact that dragons live much longer than ponies, judging by their one hundred year naps. But Twilight would never let Spike just wallow away in sadness for the rest of his life. She'd be sure to teach him that loss is a part of living, and that no matter what happens in the future she and the others loved him and that's what matters. Plus, growing up with ponies like Twilight and Pinkie Pie, I'm pretty sure Spike would have acquired an unbeatable sense of optimism lol.

It'll never be easy to lose his loved ones, but the journey of friendship is worth the inevitable end. And he can tell their stories to the next generation of fillies and colts, a way of honouring their memories.

That was absolutly lovely. You even got me tearing up, though I am such a big softy, I really shouldn't be surprised.

When we where children, we could watch any of are beloved cartoons, and just be content with what we where seeing, and never look beyond that simplicity. However as we grow, we begin setting our sights on the future, and questioning the simply thing we used to just except. We ask "whys", and "what ifs" hoping to find answers that the half hour episodes, and multipy season could never explain to us. And if no asnwer is ever given to us, then we take the time to make our own.

The question of aging, and Spike growing up slowly is one I know I have pondered myself, however the sheer sadness of the question usually kept me from pursuing that though any further.
I am really glad that you took the time to ponder that same question, and write this wonderful story as your answer to it. I am glad, because I feel lucky just to have been given the opportunity to read this story. To have my question answered in such a beautiful and well thought out way, it really makes me feel so happy, and so very very lucky.

Thank you so much, it was perfect, and just the answer I wanted!
