Lazarus and his friends playing knights and dragons right before he fell. His two friends, Milo and Paul, had come over for a backyard treehouse sleepover. Laz wore his favorite striped pajamas because they made him feel like an adventurer. They’re swords weren’t forged in fire, but in their backyards out of twine and spare lumber. The mountain wasn’t a mountain, but the tree in which they’d built their treehouse. The dragon wasn’t a dragon, but a figment of their brilliant imaginations. It was all enough for their purposes. Unfortunately, trees and mountains can be just as dangerous if you fall from them.
