Well I've been currently reading this fic and now I can't help but picture the space cadet and AAPA factions suddenly finding that they're now "sharing the same galaxy. Sure it would be bloody but damn entertaining to watch. m.fanfiction.net/s/2353766/1/Sā¦

The AAPA factions would get crushed.

True the big three would at best get reduced to minor factions, hell bent on restoring their former "glory". With there being a sudden influx of battle hardened mercenaries.

The Assimilator cube is bigger than I thought when I first saw it. I can see how it'd be threatening if there where a swarm of them.

I detect FLYING TRIANGLES, which I like. :3

How come the AAPA ships seemingly all look like big rocket boosters with stuff just slapped on ?

That's the intentional design aesthetic. They've evolved directly from older spacecraft designs not unlike OTL spacecraft, and so retain their characteristics. Also, AAPA is a bit harder scifi with regard to space than the standard space opera. However, the more advanced the ships become, the more they diverge. The Coalition retains a more traditional rocket design than the Conseil, but both have diverged from the older designs.Ā

Ahh thanks for explaining .
My own setting uses an ascetic that is essentially WWII Battleships but in space more or less, kind of like Space Battleship Yamato I guess. The alien species have more derived designs though closer to big flying bricks.

Cool! And even apart from size, I assume that the Space Cadet ships outclass the AAPA ones in pretty much every way.
I forget, does Space Cadet have artificial gravity?

Yep, Space Cadet is in a league of its own. It is a more standard space opera that pays less attention to realism, so that's to be expected.Ā
Space Cadet does have easy artificial gravity.

Heh, both the Coalition and Conseil's battleships are smaller than the Imperial destroyer. Really shows you how outmatched the AAPA superpowers are compared to the SC powers.
Though I wonder, what warship from the AAPA powers, barring the Rockefeller-class, can take out an Imperial Maganorsk-class destroyer in a single shot?

Yeah, one of my favorite things about this chart is showing the extreme tech and power disparity between the two universes.
There is nothing apart from the Rockefeller's main gun that can take down a Maganorsk in one shot. A battle group may be able to take one down, but it will take a lot of direct hits. Space Cadet shields are very powerful and can shrug off hundred megaton hits with ease.

Very nice. Would you be doing any crossovers of AAPA and Space Cadet?

I always wonder what it must be like to work on a ship the size of the John D. Rockefeller. Is it like working in a huge office building where you may very well never leave your designated area and thus have massive parts of the ship that are just unknown to you, the average crewmember?

Pretty much. Only high-ranking officers are expected to interact with folks outside of their section.Ā

Given that all of these have Ad Astra Per Aspera above them does that mean that you're eventually going to be doing Space Cadet ships as well?

Yep! My finishing of the AAPA ships is actually training for when I work on Space Cadet ones.

Nice work, the black on black makes it a little to see though.
Maybe you next big project could be a campaign map of the Galactic War?

I only made these black so they can be added to DirkLoechel's map with ease.Ā
Hm, that would be an interesting project....
