Great close up... i have always tried for a photo like this but never succeeded.

Try a macro lens, or in the case of this picture, an 18-55mm set to 55mm, positioned not really that close to the subject, and manually focus very carefully. Thats how I managed this capture. Still took a while... Wild moths are, well... wild.

that might work. When ever I try with my macro lens It's always early in the morning when they aren't active and the depth of field is always too short to capture the wings.

Bright natural light always seems to help I find... Can't remember if this was taken in Mexico or Costa Rica... Either way, very sunny.

I usually take mine under a pine or in a dark shack somewhere... I'll try to find some in daylight next time
