Not super happy with the background here but... well it was more practice. Also, I am still not sure I got those wings right, but I was tired of tweaking them...

They had launched the attack, and Skerry flew up with the rest to meet the Skrekrill rising from the trees in front of them. He flew high, higher than the others which were already starting to engage the enemy down below. He liked to see the whole picture of the battle, and dart in to where he was most needed, then dart out again before someone could grapple with him.

It was always impressive, in a way, to see the whole battle laid out in front of you. So many gryphons, so much energy...

His ear twitched, and something niggled in the corner of his eye, a flash of motion. He wheeled about, searching. Nothing... no, there! Another flash of movement though the trees. What was that? Then two gryphons burst into a clearing, one chasing the other.

Skerry recognized Valcaur immediately and instinctively began a dive. He was chasing a gryphon much smaller than him. Damn, how had he pulled down someone so quickly? Who was he chasing? They were small... no... A reeve? Surely not... Skerry growled and pulled his wings in closer, narrowing his eyes against the buffeting wind. There was nothing he could do as he watched the scene play out in front of him, he was still too far away. He saw the reeve stumble and fall, and watched helplessly as Val collided with her, knocking her senseless. He levelled out, rushing headlong towards the scene, close now. He saw Val pull himself to his feet and look up. Their eyes locked. Damn, no surprise then...

Val had learned from the last time Skerry had attacked him from above, how to react. He swore and rolled out of the way, Skerry’s claws slicing air above his head. Skerry pulled up as short as he could, and dropped back down to land between Valcaur and the reeve. He spread his wings menacingly as Val squared up against him...

(WHITE KNIGHT SKERRY er I mean what?)

TL. DR. Skerry joins the battle, ready to defend whoever Val was attacking.

So there we go. Berra will live, but she will change.

Last part tomorrow! I bet you can guess what the flavour will be with these two boys squaring up... ;}
