It's actually kinda easy to tell with the brushes and looking at the hardness
of each brush and looking at each stroke, but I suppose not everyone can do that, ahhhh
I do agree with the layers however, but I assume the glossy shine is overlay and the glow is lumosity.

I recommend using the same layer, its how I role. And with highlights, use another layer to make sure you got it right, then murge it down.

Ah, neat~
I'd rather use separate layers as it's easier to do with highlights and glowing effects.
For the duller parts, I'd use the same layer since it's mainly blending.
