Did you try? There is absolutely nothing in this you can't do in FireAlpaca. It's just a regular brush.

Firealpaca has different brushes with different hardness, you can use the pencil for harder edges, the watercolor for slightly softer edges and the airbrush for fairly soft edges.
Make use of what you have and play around. You can also make custom brushes.

additionally, resizing the watercolor brush can variate it's hardness on the edges.

I use Photoshop CC, can someone explain what those wave graph symbols above the brush icon mean? Are they like the equivalent of Photoshop's "hardness" ?

Yes, they are. The one on the left is the softest and the one on the right the hardest and the other 2 are in between.
So in Photoshop you would start of with a big soft brush and end with a small hard brush. : )
