Description Some people around here claim, "if an artist deletes a deviation that has been reported, the reporter will receive a message saying that the image in question was removed by staff, even if the artist really is the one who deleted the image."

That claim is false, and here is the ultimate proof. This cap taken 3/25/2011 at 1:06pm

Both deviations mentioned in the screencap were motivationals with anime character pictures.

So any screenshots where it says "staff has removed this deviation" are indeed true.

Please reference to this deviation when dealing with thieves (or creepers!) who claim "I TOOK IT DOWN MYSELF!!" after an image is reported.

You reported a FrUK-related deviation?
I LOVE YOU.

Yeah mine got reported because it was in 'the wrong category' or something...I think some people just like to abuse the 'report abuse' button. Why couldn't they have just told me,my story was in the wrong category instead of reporting me right?

That has nothing to do with my deviation.

When it comes to report notices in Notes, I see more of the bottom one than the top. Nice of you to show prospective "thieves" that we can call BS on their games.

Glad to see a cap of this--it's been so long since I saw the "artist removed it first" message I'd almost forgotten it existed. I'll be sure to link to this when dealing with silly theft from now on!

I'm glad that's been fixed. I'd even been told from :devreality-squared: that all reports receive their appropriate responses regardless of the real reason for the deletion.

The first message means the artist deleted it right?

I'm a little confused. What IS the difference?

I was also one of the Hitmen who reported the 'Original FrUK', but I can't remember what it was... Oh, yeah, no I remember. Never mind. God, that was so lame

That's one of the frustrating things about reporting violations: they either do it quickly or they take for-freakin'-ever to do their jobs, so I tend to forget because I have lint-trap for a memory

Ryugexu In reply to MiraKHall [2011-03-25 21:29:37 +0000 UTC]

The difference is:

Staff removed the deviation.

Or

The deviant removed the deviation themselves.

In that order.

MiraKHall In reply to Ryugexu [2011-03-26 01:50:10 +0000 UTC]

And we shouldn't trust either of these messages? Or just one of them? That was the confusing part in the artist's comment...

Ryugexu In reply to MiraKHall [2011-03-26 02:00:22 +0000 UTC]

No, this is to show you that both responses are given and readily available.

Sometimes if a user is in trouble for doing something wrong they'll say "oh I took it down myself" while implying that shows some kind of honesty. They'll get confronted by a user who says "no, I reported it, here is a cap of my inbox where it says Staff Took This Down". The user will then reply "there isn't an additional message for if I take it down, even though I did take it down!".

So this is proof that both responses are possible, so that the next time you get a message that says "staff took it down", and the user says they took it down, you know the truth.

Heh, that happened to me too. I was happy that they were mature enough to take it down and start over as an actual artist.

By the way, LOVE your icon X3
