Here is a Varakov Class fleet cruiser, one of the more unusual capital ship types around. Generally about the same tonnage as a light battlecruiser or light battleship, the fleet cruiser is most closely related to battlecruisers and is built out of modified battlecruiser hulls. Compared to a battlecruiser, the Fleet cruiser features higher speed, less protection, and armaments focused on smaller caliber but more rapid firing weapons. Protection levels in proportion to its overall mass is more comparable to cruisers than battlecruisers. In absolute values fleet cruisers do have thicker armor than smaller cruisers thanks to them befitting from square cube law, however this still does lead to less protection than a battlecruiser, which has a greater proportion of its mass devoted to armor than cruisers. Fleet cruisers are one of the best ships when it comes to killing swarms of smaller ships and strike craft, but they struggle badly against other capital ships, as such, they are a rare sight in the OISU, only filling a small handful of specialist roles.--
