the way it works is you follow people by watching them. when you visit someones page youll see towards the top a button that says "Watch" or something along those lines. then a pop up window will appear showing all the options you can choose. it defaults all of them: deviations (pictures), scraps (a separate folder for unfinished work/crappy sketches etc), journals, forum posts, polls, and whatever else it says. i personally only choose deviations, journals, and scraps because all the others seem pointless to me personally. but thats just me lol. so everytime that person updates, you will get a notification of each catagory they update. it will also ask if you want to add that person to a friend list. it doesnt really do anything special except sort them in a different place. that way, when you build up watchers and friends and need to contact specific people (such as close friends on your watch list) you dont have to manually find those people. some of the people on my friend list i know in real life, and some ive met on the internet over the years (many i havent really spoken to for a while and them in return

A widget is bascially a box on your profile that displays certain info/features. Watchers, journals, etc. Its been a while since ive edited mine but if you go into your profile settings you should find it. Some you have to pay for but you really only the need the free ones anyway. TheFAQ section of the site should expalin better than I do
