Description
I've always, always, always wanted to draw and paint like this, in digital, so that it would look like done with watercolour and have this children-book illustration style. And finally learnt to do it after watching this movie, probably the most beautiful looking 2D animated feature film, 'Song of The Sea'. Watch it!!!!here's the finished artwork:

It's mainly the water colour brush-emulating brushes inside Jonas De Ro's latest brush pack. You will find them here, along with many others which can also give nice textures.

I used the second brush under PAINT category.

Well, I would have loved to! But it's a bit expensive in our currency, at least right now for me, I don't have enough savings Will surely try to get hold of it as and when I can.
[btw, I just bought the illustrated Harry Potter, will be delivered this evening!!! ]

I'm so amazed that you've captured the style of this movie. I want to draw like those in children's books too, there's something about that style that makes me feel all warm inside. Great job!

You can start trying from today!
This process i have followed is probably the simplest one, but will take your time and effort. All the textures in their visual style can be a bit too distracting when you're first trying to paint that way.
>Break it down, simplify everything into solid coloured shapes and put them on different layers.
>Once you're happy with the composition and placement of all the elements, start drawing details with a texture brush, any kind you like, on a clipped layer over each basic shape layer.
>Add more overall details, adjust the colours, brightness and contrast, sharpen some places to add more visual interest.
>And, you'll be done!
Try it, as long as you don't, you're missing the fun!!

I will!!
Gosh yes, if you try to do the textures first, it will be very hard.
Wow! I always draw on one layer so it was hard to copy this style, thank you so much for the tips and for going out of your way to reply to me, I appreciate that! I will try it as soon as I have free time thanks!
