Thanks for making this (:
I plan on making some ginormous horns soonish o_O
Can I ask, with the paper mache, can you add details with a knife? Maybe like little scratches and
stuff like that? I want to put alot of details in mine D:
Thanks again :')

Yeah, that would definitely be easy enough! Paper mache isn't even a must on this - I just went with it because the horns needed to stand up to some rough and tumble choreography. If they're just for wearing as in cosplay/photoshoots and aren't going to be beaten around a lot, air dry crayola clay would work pretty well, and would be a lot less work for making forms like ridges, scratches, etc.
Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm tempted to make a new set of horns and a new tutorial xD

I've actually heard of a great way to use paper mache and make it super strong (:
Apparently, if you coat it in a couple layers of wood varnish (that stuff that waterproofs wood floors) the paper mache will absorb it fairly well and dry hard and waterproof. I was going to try that out so the horns would be lightweight AND stand up to a beating.
I've used crayola model magic and it can be annoying, so I'd like to try something new (:
But you totally should make a new tutorial to update your older idea. I'd love to see it (:

A similar method (that requires fewer layers) is to just use resin. Car Repair resin and bondo are meant for use fixing dents and scratches on the outsides of cars and are pretty dang waterproof xD They also dry to a solid finish that can withstand a lot of abuse. It can be used with cloth, felt, mache, etc

I've worked with resin as well. It's a super pain x_x
It dries hard as a rock and is super durable, but it's very runny and once it dries, you can't really add any textures or sand it down very well. It's also extremely toxic, so you have to wear a respirator while handling it.
Bondo is pretty great though, I'm doing a project with it now, but I think it may be too heavy for horns ):

Have you tried car repair resin? It's just meant for little scratches and dents so it's like a hard, thin shell over everything else, going on either as an under level just under the details or over everything else. Though yes, it is SUCH a pain to try and edit delicately once it's set >.<

Those were so cool. You just had to use the most embarassing photos of me in this, didn't you?
On a sidenote, did I give you the Chicago soundtrack?
