Description
Sam
Personality
Much like Sam's past, his personality is yet another thing that he's trying to figure out. He knows what he prefers and what he dislikes, but he cannot explain why. His initial state of being in this new world is "dazed and confused," but after the shock, he still has a strong urge to find out who he really is. Or for that matter, if he ever had a past to begin with. Without memories, his morals are another mystery entirely. He has a strong desire to do what's right, but he has nothing to justify doing so. He has no conviction to move himself forward, but he still does regardless. He is learning as much about himself as he is with this strange and enigmatic new landscape.
Summoning
Yet another aspect that Sam is terrified of is his new ability to channel his creative energy through his body to activate a thermostat which then summons Gray. A little convoluted, don't you think? Even he's not quite sure how he does it, but it works all the same. Summoning Gray, however, is not as typical as it is for the other creations that inhabit The Real. Gray is not a single entity, she is a hivemind comprised of trillions of synthetic nanomachines all communicating with each other to achieve what they want. Even a single nanite is still "Gray," and as such, summoning a single nanite is what Sam is capable of. The second most terrifying aspect of Sam's new power is that if he wishes to restore multiple nanomachines, say one hundred, two hundred, two thousand, three billion, (etc.) then his body will start to burn and damage itself. If he wants to "fix" Gray, he certainly has the ability to do so, but the repercussions might just be too much to bear...
Gray
Personality
Gray's personality can be a little complicated to explain. She acts like happy little girl, yes, but without any physical or moral restrictions. She likes having fun with other people, but that "fun" can range from making a bunch of cheesy jokes to launching someone off a cliff to see how far they go. She doesn't really respect human life, but she does find the things that they create very interesting. She also enjoys having people to talk to but if that person turns out to be annoying or mean, you can probably expect Gray to kill them. Or maybe she'll just ignore them. You never really know. Her only purpose in life (to eat literally everything) is locked and out of her reach. If she can't do that, then obviously the next best option is to have as much fun as she can.
Gray Goo
As you might expect, having the ability to transform any part of your body into anything you can imagine may be a pretty handy power to have. And without being restricted by the disadvantages of feeling pain, Gray can express herself in the most...hazardous of ways. But that's not to say that she is beyond physical limitation. Everything that she does puts some amount of stress on the nanomachines that make up her body, and depending on how she uses her abilities, those nanites will break and become defective. The more she exerts herself, the faster she dies, essentially. The most powerful feeling that she can exhibit is the sensation of hunger, and she only experiences this when her nanite numbers are low. Another indicator of when she is hungry is her physical capacity, or how big she is at the time. She has a maximum size, but no minimum. There are two ways she may regain her nanomachines; one, she can absorb any organic material to replicate her nanites (organic material ranging from plant lifeΒ to human flesh), and two, Sam can help her out and regenerate nanites through his summoning power. So basically, Gray is the biggest detriment to herself, but there are other dangers to gray besides her own rambunctiousness. Extreme heat and extreme cold will certainly damage her, but the absolute best way to kill her is with electricity. She doesn't fear much, but she knows full well to stay away from high voltage.
