Story:Β
Now recovered and slightly hung over from the other day, Β Aria was ready for more. She tacked Citi, who was still annoyed about yesterday, up for their dressage class. The mare chomped furiously on her bit and tossed her head before she let Aria fasten her flash. Aria felt bad that she had put so much stress on the mare through her irresponsibility. She tugged on Citi's reins and indicated her to walk foward. The mare protested and dragged her feet. The mare sulked as Aria mounted her. The weather was hazyand the sun was starting to droop as the rider guided her horse over to the dressage ring. Aria wasn't bothered by the warm weather. It's actually quite nice out, nice to get a break from the heat from home, Aria thought. She halted the mare in front of the fence and slacked her reins. Citi rooted her head down and chomped around her flash. She seems off, I wonder if she's going to be weird when we go in, Aria thought. Citi looked worn out and annoyed. The big grey's ears were back and her head drooped. Aria spaced out and didn't her her name called. The announcer called her name again and the rider jumped back to reality. "Sorry, Coming!" She shouted. The announcer gave her a thumbs up as she quickly collected her reins and maneuvered Citi over to the gate. The rider hadn't really put much thought into her freestyle or song choice, so she just was hoping it would work out. The gate opened and the music began to play. She framed Citi up and suddenly she returned to focus. That was weird, Aria thought. She shrugged slightly and started her freestyle.
"There's a bright side
To every wrong thing
If you're looking at me through the right eyes
Darkness in my name
Don't you wanna come and play on the cool side,"
The first verse played steadily as Aria rode the mare in a collected piaffe. Citi seemed to be her normal self again. Aria relaxed into the music as she continued on.
"This could be perfection
A venom drippin' in your mouth
Singin' like a siren
Love me while your wrists are bound
You've been seeing me in your dreams but
I'll be there when your reality drowns,"
The end of the first chorus hit, and Aria felt Citi stumble under her slightly as she pushed the mare into a canter. The grey was pretty careful about placing her feet, so it was a little strange. Aria played it off however and continued on.
The second verse and chorus passed. Everything seemed to be going well. The judge watched carefully as Aria half-passed as the bridge played,
"Boy, I know what you desire
Oh, you're such a bad, bad liar
I want you and I just can't take it
So, listen to me when I say it"
As the last chorus hit, Aria brought the mare back down to a piaffe. They hit the beat perfectly. Good girl, Aria thought. We're almost done...
"...Love me while your wrists are bound
You've been seein' me in your dreams but
I'll be there when your reality drowns
I'll be there when your reality drowns"
They walked in the middle and Aria bowed. Applause errupted as the rider loosened Citi reins and praised her. "Good girl," Aria praised her. Citi seemed to understand that her owner was better now and seemed to almost return to herself. Not fully though. There was still something that no one seemed to notice...
