let me explain to you why this is my winter.

People who know me very well, know as well that speed skating and skating on "real" ice is very important to me. This winterseason i started with a goal in mind, getting under the 46 seconds in the 500m. A month ago this intention turned into nothing when i had an accident during gymnastics. I broke my cruciate ligament in my right knee (don't know if i i translated that correctly). After that i couldn't continu with sport what so ever. I can't swim, cycle, skate, run or anything else. Sport is very important to me, so i was very shocked when i heared that i couldn't sport in this winter and that if i fully restored i didn't have 100% of my strength back.
Then winter came to Holland and for the first time in almost 11 years we could skate again on real ice! I couldn't, and it's very though for me to see everyone skating while i'm sitting at home doing nothing.
I'll remember this winter for the rest of my life as the winter that learned that you have to be happy with what you have. And it's true what they say:

~you never no what you've got till it's gone~

About the picture. Besides that this picture has some emotional baggage for me, it's also the best picture i made untill now!( in my opinnion) the atmosphere is just perfect here and the contrast and B&W do wonders to the picture.
