one of my best animalportraits so far. I can truly say that this photo was no coincidence. Everything you see here was just as i wanted to be, included the shades of color. If you'd look up other pictures of zebras here on DA you'll find that the aren't very colorful eventhough the zebra has several hues of brown and orange in their coat.Stripes I: [link]

ik ben nieuwsgierig hoe je de foto hebt gemaakt !?
heb je bij de zebra in zijn verblijf gestaan of heb je gewoon een mega lens?

hey Femke ^^,
ik heb een zoomlens van 70-200mm die een lichtsterkte heeft van 4.0F (ik weet niet of je dat wat zegt, maar dat kan je zo opzoeken) hierop heb ik een 1.4 extender gezet waardoor die dus 1.4x zo groot ver kan inzoomen en de diafragma terug gaat naar 5.6
Dat is dus het technische verhaal, daarnaast heb ik heel veel geduld gehad, ik heb iets meer dan een half uur op deze foto zitten wachten, ik wist dat de zebra's nieuwsgierig naar me waren maar nog angstig, dus ben ik op de muur van hun verblijf gaan zitten en er naderde uiteindelijk eentje tot 2 meter. Al met al dus een goede lens (niet al te extreem lang) en heel veel geduld en oefenen!! het is niet zo dat dit de enige foto is, ik heb daarnaast nog heel veel die net niet goed waren, dus veel foto's maken van 1 onderwerp en de beste uitzoeken.

Hmm...
I'm not comfortable with the focusing and how it's not.. in the right place, it seems. The unfocused eye and below that emphasises that, I think.
I really do like this capture though, and it's great you had the opportunity to photograph this. It almost looks unreal, especially towards the top.

Takes practice, so don't worry about it. It'll soon be second nature.
Either that, or widen the depth of field.
