Here's a size comparison between my new 1 & 3/4 inch great white shark (Carcharodon carcharias) and my largest tooth (2 & 1/3 inches) from a broad-tooth white shark (Carcharodon hastalis (formerly Isurus)), which is its direct ancestor. As you can see, the black great white tooth pales in size to my powder blue broad-tooth white shark tooth. Scarier still, I've seen 3-inch teeth from both species, which means giants at least 26 feet in total length!
