My favorite python, and the one i'd very much like to own someday, Aspidites ramsayi, the Woma python of Australia. Though endangered in the wild due to habitat loss, their success at captive breeding means they have a strong population in captivity. Growing to 6 feet, rarely ever 7-8 feet, they are an easy starter snake and though generally more expensive price-wise, they are hardy, placid and never refuse to eat. Reintroductions into their native Australian habitat have and currently are being attempted, but are proving problematic due to heavy predation by Mulga (King Brown) snakes.
