Description Thomas and Nikki had finally had some success. They were able to catch a male vampire, appearing to be in his fifties though was most likely much older, draining a young woman. Unfortunately the two arrived too late, and the woman died shortly after. However she did not die in vain, as they were able to catch the vampire while he had been distracted with his prey. He did not die, though, before taunting the hunters with the fact that ‘You have only caught one of many.’ Thomas staked him before they had a chance to interrogate the creature, and got scolded by Nikki for this. He didn’t care much though. He was just glad that they had finally killed one of the damned things. He couldn’t wait to celebrate with Alice the next day at lunch- of course it then hit him that he still needed to find out if it had really been her that he had seen in the park that night…

He did not get a chance to ask her though, as neither of them ended up going to the restaurant. He received a letter that morning at the inn, which cancelled their plans. It was labeled as being from Alice, though it was clearly written by someone else, as it was much neater and more legible than her last one.

‘Dear Thomas William Hiddleston,
I must apologize, but I will be unable to join you for lunch today. I am incredibly sorry, but I’m afraid something has come up that will prevent me from going out very much for a bit of time. I will gladly send you another letter when I am free once again, if you would like. Please forgive me sir.
Signed,
Alice Patel.'

Thomas was more than disappointed. He wanted to know if it had really been her there that night. If there really were multiple vampires in London, as Thomas had previously suspected, then he needed to be more aware and stop writing Alice off simply because she was a sweet young girl. He hated to think that she may be a vampire, but there was actually quite a bit against her…

He decided later that day that he would go visit her at home. If she could not go out to meet him, he would go in to meet her. He believed he remembered the location of her home correctly, as he had escorted her there the other night. Though, he did end up wandering lost for a bit, and ended up having to go to the Baroque Hall to find her home from there, as he had escorted her home from the party there. He eventually found her home, though it took a bit longer than he would have liked. He made his way up the steps and used the large knocker on the front door. It was only a few moments before a servant opened it. She wore a rather dirty dress and was quite pale, but not as pale as Alice. It looked as though this woman had not gotten sleep in quite some time.

“M-May I help you sir?” she asked, seeming confused as to why there was anyone at the door in the first place.

“Yes, you may,” he answered as he studied her. She didn’t look very healthy at all, making him wonder if Alice and her ‘Master’ had been taking blood from her… “Miss Alice is here, correct? May I speak with her for a moment? I care not if I must wait outside for her, or go in to meet her.”

The servant blinked a couple times before a flash of understanding passed across her face, suddenly realizing who this man was. “I’m terribly sorry sir,” she started, “But young Miss Alice has fallen ill and is not permitted to leave the estate, or have any visitors.”

He raised an eyebrow. “Ill? She mentioned nothing of an illness in her letter to me. Then again, the letter didn’t look much as if it were written by her in the first place.”

“It wasn’t, sir. One of her tutors wrote the letter for her. She instructed them not to include the fact that she was ill, so you would not worry for her.”

Thomas doubted that what she said was true, as she seemed quite nervous as she spoke. He thought for a bit, and this only served to make the woman more anxious. She just wanted him to go away so she could get back to her work and not have to worry about being scolded or punished by the Master of the house. “If she is not permitted any visitors, perhaps you could relay a message to her for me?” he finally asked her.

“Y-yes, of course sir.” The servant quickly regretted her answer.

Thomas forced a kind smile as he spoke, “Please tell her that I enjoyed seeing her in the park last night, and that I would like to speak with her again as soon as possible.” He bowed to the servant before he walked away, letting his pseudo-smile fall into a grave frown. He was finally allowing himself to see the evidence against his dear friend, and he was afraid that his sweet Alice may actually be what he hated most.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two weeks passed. If there really were other vampires in the city, they certainly weren’t showing themselves. The deaths had ceased and the two hunters saw no more strange activity at night. They feared that their action against the single vampire may have caused the others to flee. And Thomas still had yet to see Alice again. After his little visit to her home, he received no more letters from her. He was afraid that she and her ‘Master’ may have fled as well. He still hated to think that Alice may be a vampire though, and poorly tried to convince himself that she wasn’t… Perhaps she really is only ill, he told himself, she is merely ill, bed ridden, and here you are calling the poor girl a monster. Still, he could not deny the facts. It was not odd for a young woman to carry a parasol, but it was a bit strange for her to not even want the sunlight on her through a window at lunch. It was also rather strange that she referred to her adoptive father as ‘Master’, as many vampires did to the one that turned them. She had also possibly been spotted in the park watching him and Nikki, perhaps even listening to their conversation if she truly was a vampire. She then stopped contacting him after a vampire had been killed, and she had learned through that servant that Thomas had spotted her watching him.
Speaking of being watched, Thomas felt as though he had been for the second half of these past two weeks. Almost every second, even when he was in his room at the inn, he felt as though there was someone just staring him down. He heard little noises and could swear he saw someone in the corner of his eye, but every time he turned to look, there was no one there. If he were in a crowded area, he still felt as though he was being watched, but when he looked around he could see no one looking at him. It was making him paranoid. It was especially awful at night. He would be on watch for vampires, and feel as though someone were on watch for him. Once, he could have sworn he felt someone touch the back of his neck. When he whipped around to look, he saw no one. He comforted himself by saying it was only a bug that had perhaps landed on the back of his neck, but he didn’t really believe this.
Thomas let out a sigh. I am losing my mind…  He ran his hand through his golden curls as he lay back on his bed. Don’t tell me a bloody vampire is hunting me now… how ironic. His thoughts were interrupted by a strange tapping at his window.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Over these past two weeks, Alice had refused to drink blood. She had never been happy that she was a vampire, but now that she knew that Thomas was a hunter, she absolutely hated what she was. She wouldn’t touch even a drop of blood, despite the pleas of the house servants. They told her that if she kept this up she would go into a coma and eventually die, but she did not care. She would not drink blood if it meant that Thomas would hate her. When she learned that he had spotted her in the park that night, she only became more determined in her choice.

Her Master confronted her on this about five days in to her little thirst strike. He called her a foolish girl and said that starving herself would not make her human again. At this she cried, as if she really had thought that she could change things. Her Master became annoyed with her, and let her be until the next night. When he confronted her again, he gave her two choices; “Stop being a sniveling little pest,” he told her, “or leave my estate and never enter my sight again.” Her Master had very little patience. The constant worries of his servants over Alice became incredibly annoying to him. He also did not care to have a useless little fledgling around. He had planned to make her start hunting humans on her own soon, though this new little resolution of hers would make that impossible.

Alice only stared at him like a deaf child, as if she did not even hear her choices, much less understand them. He growled at this, “I have taken care of you for years, and this is how you repay your Master?” He grabbed her favorite porcelain doll and smashed it to the floor in anger, making her cry again like a little child. He let out an exasperated sigh. “It seems I have let you be corrupted by humans…” he muttered to himself. He looked in Alice’s eyes now, which greatly intimidated her and silenced her cries. “I know all about that little human of yours,” he started, causing her to tense up further. He had discovered her care for Thomas when he caught one of the servants that was to bring a letter to the inn for him. However, he pretended not to notice it at that time. “Perhaps I should rephrase your options. You may cease this nonsense and start acting like a proper vampire…” he paused for a moment, letting her first choice sink in, “Or, you may leave and run off with that human.” His expression became darker, making Alice tremble a bit. “Know that if you choose the second option, you will no longer be welcome in this house, nor in my company.” He then left her to think about her choices.

It wasn’t a hard choice at all for Alice, though perhaps her final decision was not really one in her best interest. The girl was so desperate for affection that she would gladly leave the man who had been protecting and taking care of her for years, just to be with a man whom she had only interacted with for a few days. Though in those few days, she was the happiest that she had ever been in her life. She could not lose Thomas; she refused to.

And so she was thrown out. As she stood on the front steps of the estate, nothing in her hands but her parasol, her Master gave her a wicked grin. “I wonder…” he started, looking the girl over one last time, “just what you will do on your own.” He chuckled darkly, “Either you will starve to death, or you will start hunting people.” He now scoffed. “You are such a coward, I doubt that you could attack a human at all. Though you may, if you get desperate enough.” Alice simply stood there in silence, listening to her Master’s taunts. “Perhaps you will attack that man you love so much~” In fact, he greatly hoped for this.

Alice let out a little whimper now, her first reaction to her Master since he had pushed her outside, “I-I would never hurt him.”

But he just laughed. “We will see about that after you have gone a bit longer without blood.” He knew that vampires started to lose their sanity after going longer than a week without blood. However, this was information that he had yet to teach Alice, as he had always made sure she had blood every day. He would be interested to see what she would do…

He now stepped back into the estate and placed his hand on the door. “It is such a shame that I have to give you up…” He almost seemed a bit sad for a moment. He had grown quite close to his little fledgling over the years. However, he didn’t let this emotion show for long. “But I do not want a human-loving pest in my home.” And with that said, he slammed the door in her face.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alice didn’t really have any place to go, so she sought out Thomas instead. However once she found him, she was too scared to actually approach him. She knew what he was now, and being a vampire, she couldn’t just stroll up to him. So instead, she saw nothing wrong in simply stalking him. She followed him and watched him constantly, no matter where he was or what he was doing. And at night, she could get just a bit close to him… at first. As time passed, she got bolder, and got closer. Once, she got so close that she could even touch him. She had been so silent in her approach behind him, that he hadn’t heard her at all. She ever so slightly stroked the back of his neck with her index finger, and could feel him shiver beneath her touch. She wanted to touch him more, but was unable to before he whipped around to see her. However by the time he was looking there, she had swiftly sprinted out of sight with the aid of her vampiric speed.
As she continued to watch him for the next week, she noticed that Thomas was starting to get more and more paranoid. He looked around more carefully, and often looked over his shoulder as he walked, but Alice always remained out of his sight. She wondered why he seemed so scared, her dissipating sanity not allowing her to recognize that he knew he was being followed. She began getting crazy ideas, like running to him and hugging him, and kissing him, and other things… but most importantly, telling him that there was nothing to fear, as she was always watching over him. As her mind weakened, it also strengthened in a different way; her sanity lacking, but her will and desire dominating. She started convincing herself that Thomas would love her just as much as she loved him, despite the fact that she was a vampire. She so desperately wanted to be with him… forever…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thomas’ thoughts were interrupted by a strange tapping at his window. He sat up and looked there, but saw nothing. He prayed it was simply his mind playing tricks on him as he lay back again, closing his eyes. He desperately wanted some sleep! He hadn’t been sleeping well at all since he began feeling as though he were constantly being watched… Nikki had promised to keep watch tonight so he could try to get some rest.

However after a few moments, he heard the tapping start up again. He sat up and looked to the window, but still saw nothing. He felt great annoyance, with a dash of fear. He quickly got up from his bed and went to the window. Just as before, he saw no one. He unlatched and opened the window before poking his head out, looking around for his stalker, but finding nothing but an empty street. He sighed as he closed the window. I really am going mad… He turned away from the window. There is no one watching me, I am simply losing my mind. He was about to walk back to his bed when he heard a loud THUD! from the window. He whipped around, and gasped at what he saw.

It was… “A-Alice?” She was stark naked, causing Thomas’s face to turn a deep shade of red. Though that was not what concerned him most. Rather, it was the fact that on her hands, which were pressed up against the glass of the window, had the words ‘I’ and ‘YOU’ carved in the palms, with ‘LOVE’ carved into her collar, spelling out ‘I LOVE YOU’. Her fingernails were quite long and sharp, almost like claws, and those on her index fingers had blood on them from carving the words into herself. Her only visible eye was bright red and seemed to even be glowing a bit, and she had a wicked smile… which revealed two sharp fangs.

Oh dear! Thomas must be frightened out of his wits, but I hope that Alice doesn't do anything rash and bite him in her bloodlust fueled delirium. Then again, I think that that is going to happen pretty soon anyway.
